1. An optical magnifier comprising:

  • a first light transmissive substrate having a first array of lenses of lenses on a first side thereof and a second array of lenses on a second side thereof, wherein the lenses have optical power and wherein the first array is optically aligned with the second array of lenses such that two opposing lenses on opposing sides of the first substrate have a common optical axis; and

    ,a second light transmissive substrate having a first array of lenses on a first side thereof and a second array of lenses on a second side thereof, wherein the lenses have optical power and wherein the first array is optically aligned with the second array of lenses such that two opposing lenses on opposing sides of the second substrate have a common optical axis;

    wherein the first substrate and second substrate are supported in a spaced apart position, and wherein the first and second optical substrates are optically aligned so that together they form an array of afocal optical magnifiers, wherein at least one array associated with the first light transmissive substrate or the second light transmissive substrate has positive lenses and at least one other array associated with the first light transmissive substrate or the second light transmissive substrate has negative lenses.
