Abstract

A wireless communication device configured for selecting a codeword and determining a symbol length for uplink control information is described. The wireless communication device includes a processor and instructions stored in memory. The wireless communication device establishes communication with a base station, receives downlink control information from the base station and receives base station information. The wireless communication device generates uplink control information based on the base station information. The wireless communication device also determines a number of symbols for the uplink control information for a plurality of layers and sends the uplink control information.

Claims

1. A wireless communication device configured for selecting a codeword and determining a symbol length for uplink control information, comprising:

a processor;

memory in electronic communication with the processor;

instructions stored in the memory, the instructions being executable to;

establish communication with a base station;

receive downlink control information from the base station;

receive base station information;

generate uplink control information based on the base station information;

determine a number of symbols for the uplink control information for a plurality of layers; and

send the uplink control information.

2. The wireless communication device of claim 1, wherein the number of symbols for the uplink control information is determined for a plurality of codewords.

3. The wireless communication device of claim 1, wherein at least one codeword on the plurality of layers is aggregated.

4. The wireless communication device of claim 1, wherein the number of symbols is determined based on a worst layer.

5. The wireless communication device of claim 1, wherein the number of symbols is determined based on a proportional allocation of all layers.

6. The wireless communication device of claim 1, wherein a plurality of β

_offset values is used to determine the number of symbols for the uplink control information.

7. The wireless communication device of claim 6, wherein the β

_offset values are the same and derived the same way as in LTE Release-8 such that the wireless communication device obtains the β

_offset for control information for Single User-Multiple Input Multiple Output (SU-MIMO).

8. The wireless communication device of claim 1, wherein the number of symbols is determined based on an equation

14. The wireless communication device of claim 1, wherein the instructions are further executable to select a codeword from a plurality of codewords for the uplink control information.

15. The wireless communication device of claim 14, wherein selecting a codeword is based on a Modulation and Coding Scheme (MCS) setting.

16. The wireless communication device of claim 14, wherein selecting a codeword is based on a Hybrid Automatic Repeat Request (HARQ) status.

17. The wireless communication device of claim 14, wherein the codeword is selected for at least one CQI/PMI message.

18. The wireless communication device of claim 14, wherein the codeword is selected statically.

19. A method for selecting a codeword and determining a symbol length for uplink control information, comprising:

establishing communication with a base station;

receiving downlink control information from the base station;

receiving base station information;

generating, on a wireless communication device, uplink control information based on the base station information;

determining, on the wireless communication device, a number of symbols for the uplink control information for a plurality of layers; and

sending the uplink control information.

20. The method of claim 19, wherein the number of symbols for the uplink control information is determined for a plurality of codewords.

21. The method of claim 19, wherein at least one codeword on the plurality of layers is aggregated.

22. The method of claim 19, wherein the number of symbols is determined based on a worst layer.

23. The method of claim 19, wherein the number of symbols is determined based on a proportional allocation of all layers.

24. The method of claim 19, wherein a plurality of β

_offset values is used to determine the number of symbols for the uplink control information.
