Abstract

A power management method of a mobile communication terminal may include sensing a characteristic of a battery coupled to the mobile communication terminal, providing a power-off suspend mode for the mobile communication terminal when the sensed battery characteristic falls below a predetermined value, and further sensing the characteristic of the battery while the mobile communication terminal is in the power-off suspend mode. This may include performing a reset of the mobile communication terminal when the further sensed characteristic rises above the predetermined value while the mobile communication terminal is in the power-off suspend mode, and performing a power-off of the mobile communication terminal when the further sensed characteristic remains below the predetermined value for a prescribed time while the mobile communication terminal is in the power-off suspend mode.

Claims

1. A power management method of a mobile communication terminal, the method comprising:

sensing a characteristic of a battery coupled to the mobile communication terminal;

providing a power-off suspend mode for the mobile communication terminal when the sensed battery characteristic falls below a predetermined value;

further sensing the characteristic of the battery while the mobile communication terminal is in the power-off suspend mode;

performing a reset of the mobile communication terminal when the further sensed characteristic rises above the predetermined value while the mobile communication terminal is in the power-off suspend mode; and

performing a power-off of the mobile communication terminal when the further sensed characteristic remains below the predetermined value for a prescribed time while the mobile communication terminal is in the power-off suspend mode.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein the sensed characteristic is a voltage of the battery.

3. The method of claim 2, wherein sensing the characteristic includes sensing the voltage of the battery at prescribed intervals.

4. The method of claim 1, wherein further sensing the characteristic in the power-off suspend mode includes continuously sensing the characteristic of the battery.

5. The method of claim 1, further comprising displaying information regarding a reset when performing the reset of the mobile communication terminal.

6. The method of claim 1, wherein performing the reset includes performing a silent reset of the mobile communication terminal.

7. The method of claim 1, wherein performing the reset includes rebooting the mobile communication terminal.

8. A power management method of a mobile communication terminal, the method comprising:

sensing a voltage of a battery coupled to the mobile communication terminal;

providing a power-off suspend mode for the mobile communication terminal when the sensed voltage of the battery decreases more than a prescribed amount within a predetermined amount of time.

further sensing the voltage of the battery while the mobile communication terminal is in the power-off suspend mode;

performing a reset of the mobile communication terminal when the further sensed voltage rises above a predetermined value while the mobile communication terminal is in the power-off suspend mode; and

performing a power-off of the mobile communication terminal when the further sensed voltage remains below the predetermined value for a prescribed time while the mobile communication terminal is in the power-off suspend mode.

9. The method of claim 8, wherein sensing the voltage includes sensing the voltage of the battery at prescribed intervals, each interval corresponding to the predetermined amount of time.

10. The method of claim 8, wherein further sensing the voltage in the power-off suspend mode includes continuously sensing the voltage of the battery.

11. The method of claim 8, further comprising displaying information regarding a reset when performing the reset of the mobile communication terminal.

12. The method of claim 8, wherein performing the reset includes performing a silent reset of the mobile communication terminal.

13. The method of claim 8, wherein performing the reset includes rebooting the mobile communication terminal.

14. A mobile communication terminal comprising:

a sensing unit to sense a characteristic of a battery coupled to the mobile communication terminal; and

a controller to provide a power-off suspend mode for the mobile communication terminal when the sensing unit senses that the sensed battery characteristic falls below a predetermined value, the sensing unit to further sense the characteristic of the battery while the mobile communication terminal is in the power-off suspend mode, the controller to perform a reset of the mobile communication terminal when the further sensed characteristic rises above the predetermined value while the mobile communication terminal is in the power-off suspend mode, and the controller to perform a power-off of the mobile communication terminal when the further sensed characteristic remains below the predetermined value for a prescribed time while the mobile communication terminal is in the power-off suspend mode.

15. The mobile communication terminal of claim 14, wherein the sensed characteristic is a voltage of the battery.

16. The mobile communication terminal of claim 15, wherein the sensing unit to sense the characteristic includes the sensing unit to sense the voltage of the battery at prescribed intervals.

17. The mobile communication terminal of claim 14, wherein the sensing unit to further sense the characteristic while the mobile communication terminal is in the power-off suspend mode includes the sensing unit to continuously sense the characteristic of the battery.

18. The mobile communication terminal of claim 14, further comprising a display to display information regarding a reset when the controller performs the reset of the mobile communication terminal.

19. The mobile communication terminal of claim 14, wherein the controller to perform the reset includes the controller to perform a silent reset of the mobile communication terminal.

20. The mobile communication terminal of claim 14, wherein the controller to perform the reset includes the controller to reboot the mobile communication terminal.

21. A mobile communication terminal comprising:

a sensing unit to sense a voltage of a battery coupled to the mobile communication terminal; and

a controller to provide a power-off suspend mode for the mobile communication terminal when the sensing unit senses that the sensed voltage of the battery decreases more than a prescribed amount within a predetermined amount of time, the sensing unit to further sense the voltage of the battery while the mobile communication terminal is in the power-off suspend mode, the controller to perform a reset of the mobile communication terminal when the further sensed voltage rises above a predetermined value while the mobile communication terminal is in the power-off suspend mode, and the controller to perform a power-off of the mobile communication terminal when the further sensed voltage remains below the predetermined value for a prescribed time while the mobile communication terminal is in the power-off suspend mode.

22. The mobile communication terminal of claim 21, wherein the sensing unit to further sense the voltage includes the sensing unit to sense the voltage of the battery at prescribed intervals, each interval corresponding to the predetermined amount of time.

23. The mobile communication terminal of claim 21, wherein the sensing unit to further sense the voltage in the power-off suspend mode includes the sensing unit tp continuously sense the voltage of the battery.

24. The mobile communication terminal of claim 21, further comprising a display to display information regarding a reset when the controller performs the reset of the mobile communication terminal.

25. The mobile communication terminal of claim 21, wherein the controller to perform the reset includes the controller to perform a silent reset of the mobile communication terminal.

26. The mobile communication terminal of claim 21, wherein the controller to perform the reset includes the controller to reboot the mobile communication terminal.
