Abstract

A data mining system and method retrieve data related to an item from a database. A survey is generated for presentation in a game. The survey includes the retrieved item data and solicits from a user input data pertaining to the retrieved item data. The input data is received from the survey and stored in a database with the item data. The input data is transmitted to the game and incorporated into the game such that the user interacts with the input data as part of playing the game.

Claims

1. A system, comprising:

a processor-implemented database module configured to retrieve data related to an item from a database;

a processor-implemented survey module configured to generate a survey for presentation in a game, the survey including the retrieved item data and soliciting from a user input data pertaining to the retrieved item data; and

a processor-implemented game module configured to transmit the input data to the game, the input data being incorporated into the game such that the user interacts with the input data as part of playing the game,

the processor-implemented database module being further configured to store the input data with the item.

2. The system of claim 1, further comprising a processor-implemented collection module configured to receive the input data entered in the survey by the user.

3. The system of claim 1, wherein the item data includes at least one of text describing the item and an image of the item.

4. The system of claim 1, wherein the item is a product offered for sale on an electronic commerce website.

5. The system of claim 1, wherein the input data is at least one keyword describing the item included in the survey.

6. The system of claim 1, further comprising a processor-implemented scoring module configured to:

compare the input data received from the user with previously stored input data received from other users, and

award an amount of game points to the user based on the comparison.

7. The system of claim 5, further comprising a processor-implemented scoring module configured to adjust a score associated with the at least one keyword based on the input data, the score representing a relevance of the at least one keyword to the item.

8. The system of claim 1, wherein the game is executed on a third party platform, the third party platform being at least one of a social networking platform, a gaming platform, and a crowdsourcing platform.

9. A computer-implemented method, comprising:

retrieving data related to an item from a database;

generating, by at least one processor, a survey for presentation in a game, the survey including the retrieved item data, the survey soliciting from a user input data pertaining to the retrieved item data;

receiving the input data from the survey;

storing the input data with the item in the database; and

transmitting the input data to the game, the input data being incorporated into the game such that the user interacts with the input data as part of playing the game.

10. The computer-implemented method of claim 9, wherein the item data includes at least one of text describing the item and an image of the item.

11. The computer-implemented method of claim 9, wherein the item is a product offered for sale on an electronic commerce website.

12. The computer-implemented method of claim 9, wherein the input data is at least one keyword describing the item included in the survey.

13. The computer-implemented method of claim 9, further comprising:

comparing the input data received from the user to previously stored input data received from other users, and

awarding an amount of game points to the user based on the comparison.

14. The computer-implemented method of claim 12, further comprising adjusting a score associated with the at least one keyword based on the input data, the score representing a relevance of the at least one keyword to the item.

15. The computer-implemented method of claim 9, wherein the game is executed on a third party platform, the third party platform being at least one of a social networking platform, a gaming platform, and a crowdsourcing platform.

16. A machine-readable storage medium storing a set of instructions that, when executed by at least one processor, causes the at least one processor to perform operations comprising:

retrieving data related to an item from a database;

generating a survey for presentation in a game, the survey including the retrieved item data, the survey soliciting from a user input data pertaining to the retrieved item data;

receiving the input data from the survey;

storing the input data with the item in the database; and

transmitting the input data to the game, the input data being incorporated into the game such that the user interacts with the input data as part of playing the game.

17. The machine-readable storage medium of claim 16, wherein the item data includes at least one of text describing the item and an image of the item.

18. The machine-readable storage medium of claim 16, wherein the item is a product offered for sale on an electronic commerce website.

19. The machine-readable storage medium of claim 16, wherein the input data is at least one keyword describing the item included in the survey.

20. The machine-readable storage medium of claim 16, further comprising:

comparing the input data received from the user to previously stored input data received from other users, and

awarding an amount of game points to the user based on the comparison.

21. The machine-readable storage medium of claim 19, further comprising adjusting a score associated with the at least one keyword based on the input data, the score representing a relevance of the at least one keyword to the item.

22. The machine-readable storage medium of claim 16, wherein the game is executed on a third party platform, the third party platform being at least one of a social networking platform, a gaming platform, and a crowdsourcing platform.
