Abstract

The present invention provides a method and apparatus for enhancing webpage browsing. The method of the invention includes a predicting step which predicts, for a first block in the webpage, a subsequent second block, based on a browsing history of blocks of webpages by at least one user; and a link generating step of automatically generating a link pointing to the second block based on a result of the predicting step. The apparatus includes: predicting means configured to predict, for a first block in the webpage, a subsequent second block, based on a browsing history of blocks of web pages by at least one user; and link generating means configured to automatically generate a link pointing to the second block based on a result of the predicting means.

Claims

1. A method for enhancing webpage browsing, the webpage containing blocks, the method comprising:

predicting, for a first block in said webpage, a subsequent second block, based on a browsing history of blocks of webpages by at least one user; and

automatically generating a link pointing to said second block based on a result of said predicting.

2. The method according to claim 1, wherein said browsing history comprises chronological browsing orders of said blocks of webpages.

3. The method according to claim 2, wherein said predicting comprises:

forming browsed block chains based on said chronological browsing orders;

learning said browsed block chains to establish a block prediction model; and

predicting said second block based on said block prediction model.

4. The method according to claim 3, wherein said browsed block chains are formed by arranging said blocks of webpages according to said chronological browsing order.

5. The method according to claim 4, further comprising removing unfocused blocks from said formed browsed block chains.

6. The method according to claim 3, wherein said browsed block chains are formed by arranging focused blocks among said blocks of webpages according to said chronological browsing order.

7. The method according to claim 6, wherein said focused blocks are distinguished from unfocused blocks according to at least one of the following:

size of said block, occurrence frequency of said block, position of said block in said webpage, dwell time of said block, content correlation between adjacent blocks, operation performed on said block, and type of said block.

8. The method according to claim 1, further comprising:

displaying a webpage containing said first block and said generated link pointing to said second block; and

presenting a display associated with said second block in response to an event aimed at said first block.

9. The method according to claim 8, wherein said event aimed at said first block is clicking said first block.

10. A method, performed by a client for webpage browsing, for enhancing webpage browsing, the webpage containing blocks, the method comprising:

predicting, for a first block in said webpage, a subsequent second block, based on a browsing history of blocks of webpages by at least one user; and

automatically generating a link pointing to said second block based on a result of said predicting.

11. An apparatus for enhancing webpage browsing, the webpage containing blocks, the apparatus comprising:

predicting means configured to predict, for a first block in said webpage, a subsequent second block, based on a browsing history of blocks of webpages by at least one user; and

link generating means configured to automatically generate a link pointing to said second block based on a result of said predicting means.

12. The apparatus according to claim 11, wherein said browsing history comprises chronological browsing orders of said blocks of webpages.

13. The apparatus according to claim 12, wherein said predicting means comprises:

means configured to form browsed block chains based on said chronological browsing orders;

means configured to learn said browsed block chains to establish a block prediction model; and

means configured to predict said second block based on said block prediction model.

14. The apparatus according to claim 13, wherein said means configured to form browsed block chains comprises:

means configured to arrange said blocks of webpages according to said chronological browsing order.

15. The apparatus according to claim 14, further comprising means configured to remove unfocused blocks from said formed browsed block chains.

16. The apparatus according to claim 13, wherein said means configured to form browsed block chains comprises:

means configured to arrange focused blocks among said blocks of webpages according to said chronological browsing order.

17. The apparatus according to claim 16, wherein said focused blocks are distinguished from unfocused blocks according to at least one of:

size of said block, occurrence frequency of said block, position of said block in said webpage, dwell time of said block, content correlation between adjacent blocks, operation performed on said block, and type of said block.

18. The apparatus according to claim 11, further comprising:

means configured to display a webpage containing said first block and said generated link pointing to said second block; and

means configured to present a display associated with said second block in response to an event aimed at said first block.

19. The apparatus according to claim 18, wherein said event aimed at said first block is clicking said first block.

20. The apparatus according to claim 11, wherein said apparatus is a client for browsing webpages.
