Abstract

A method and apparatus for dividing resources provided by cloud computing systems is described. In one embodiment, the method includes receiving a specification of a subset of cloud computing systems from among a plurality of cloud computing systems. The method may also include joining the subset of cloud computing systems into a pool of cloud computing resources. Furthermore, the method may include providing access to the pool of cloud computing resources.

Claims

1. A computer-implemented method comprising:

receiving a specification of a subset of cloud computing systems from among a plurality of cloud computing systems;

joining, with a server computer system, the subset of cloud computing systems into a pool of cloud computing resources; and

providing access to the pool of cloud computing resources.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein the joining further comprises:

updating a cloud pools database to include the pool, wherein updating the cloud pools database enables cloud system requests to be routed to cloud computing systems contained within the pool.

3. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

determining cloud computing systems associated with a user, wherein cloud computing systems associated with the user are cloud computing systems the user has permission to access; and

receiving the specification of the subset from the user.

4. The method of claim 1, wherein the subset of cloud computing systems includes at least one existing pool of cloud computing system resources.

5. The method of claim 1, wherein the specification of the subset of cloud computing systems is a subset of an existing pool of cloud computing resources.

6. The method of claim 1, wherein providing access to the pool further comprises:

receiving a request to publish the pool;

generating a link to the pool, the link to provide access to the pool of cloud computing resources over a network; and

providing the link to a client computer system.

7. The method of claim 1, wherein cloud system resource requests directed to the pool are routed to the subset of cloud computing systems.

8. A computer readable storage medium that provides instructions, which when executed on a processing system cause the processing system to perform a method comprising:

receiving a specification of a subset of cloud computing systems from among a plurality of cloud computing systems;

joining the subset of cloud computing systems into a pool of cloud computing resources; and

providing access to the pool of cloud computing resources.

9. The computer readable storage medium of claim 8, wherein the joining further comprises:

updating a cloud pools database to include the pool, wherein updating the cloud pools database enables cloud system requests to be routed to cloud computing systems contained within the pool.

10. The computer readable storage medium of claim 8, further comprising:

determining cloud computing systems associated with a user, wherein cloud computing systems associated with the user are cloud computing systems the user has permission to access; and

receiving the specification of the subset from the user.

11. The computer readable storage medium of claim 8, wherein the subset of cloud computing systems includes at least one existing pool of cloud computing system resources.

12. The computer readable storage medium of claim 8, wherein the specification of the subset of cloud computing systems is a subset of an existing pool of cloud computing resources.

13. The computer readable storage medium of claim 8, wherein providing access to the pool further comprises:

receiving a request to publish the pool;

generating a link to the pool, the link to provide access to the pool of cloud computing resources over a network; and

providing the link to a client computer system.

14. The computer readable storage medium of claim 8, wherein cloud system resource requests directed to the pool are routed to the subset of cloud computing systems.

15. A system comprising:

a memory; and

a processing device coupled with the memory to execute a cloud resource divider to

receive a specification of a subset of cloud computing systems from among a plurality of cloud computing systems,

join the subset of cloud computing systems into a pool of cloud computing resources, and

provide access to the pool of cloud computing resources.

16. The system of claim 15, wherein the joining further comprises:

updating a cloud pools database to include the pool, wherein updating the cloud pools database enables cloud system requests to be routed to cloud computing systems contained within the pool.

17. The system of claim 15, wherein the cloud resource divider to further determine cloud computing systems associated with a user, wherein cloud computing systems associated with the user are cloud computing systems the user has permission to access, and receive the specification of the subset from the user.

18. The system of claim 15, wherein the specification of the subset of cloud computing systems is a subset of an existing pool of cloud computing resources.

19. The system of claim 15, wherein the cloud resource divider to further receive a request to publish the pool, generate a link to the pool, the link to provide access to the pool of cloud computing resources over a network, and provide the link to a client computer system.

20. The system of claim 15, wherein cloud system resource requests directed to the pool are routed to the subset of cloud computing systems.
