Abstract

The method and the device for position detection with palm rejection are disclosed. The invention provides a sensor and a controller for controlling the sensor. The sensor includes a plurality of strips. The controller execute a first kind of position detection and a second kind of position detection on the sensor. The first kind of position detection identifies an ignored zone, and the second kind of position detection executes the position detection outside the ignored zone.

Claims

1. A method for position detection with palm rejection, comprising:

performing a multiple position detection, wherein the multiple position detection defines an omitted area; and

performing a single position detection outside the omitted area.

2. The method for position detection with palm rejection of claim 1, wherein the omitted area is a contact area that a palm depresses a sensor, and the contact position that a pen depresses the sensor is determined by the single position detection.

3. The method for position detection with palm rejection of claim 1, wherein the multiple position detection is a multiple position detection of capacitive type, resistive type or optical type.

4. The method for position detection with palm rejection of claim 1, wherein the omitted area comprises a plurality of independent omitted areas.

The method for position detection with palm rejection of claim 1, wherein the conductive stripes comprise a plurality of first conductive stripes and a plurality of second conductive stripes and the sensor comprises a piezoelectric layer between the first conductive stripes and the second conductive stripes.

The method for position detection with palm rejection of claim 1, wherein the conductive stripes constitutes a plurality of intersecting regions, wherein the conductive stripes are driven by AC signals to perform the multiple position detection, and the conductive stripes are driven by DC signals to perform the single position detection.

7. The method for position detection with palm rejection of claim 1, wherein the multiple position detection is performed by a first type sensor, and the second position detection is performed by a second type sensor.

8. The method for position detection with palm rejection, comprising:

providing a sensor comprising a plurality of intersecting conductive stripes; and

performing a first type of position detection and a second type of position detection on the sensor, wherein the first type of position detection defines an omitted area, and the second type of position detection is performed outside the omitted area.

The method for position detection with palm rejection of claim 8, wherein the controller further controls the driver, the detector and the selector to perform the following operation of determining the position of the contact point on each depressed intersecting region, wherein the determination of the position of each contact point comprises:

wherein the omitted area is a contact area that a palm depresses a sensor, and the contact position that a pen depresses the sensor is determined by the single position detection.

10. The method for position detection with palm rejection of claim 8, wherein the first type of position detection is a multiple position detection of capacitive type, resistive type or optical type.

11. The method for position detection with palm rejection of claim 8, wherein the omitted area comprises a plurality of independent omitted areas.

The method for position detection with palm rejection of claim 8, wherein the conductive stripes comprise a plurality of first conductive stripes and a plurality of second conductive stripes, and the sensor comprises a piezoelectric layer between the first conductive stripes and the second conductive stripes.

13. The method for position detection with palm rejection of claim 8, wherein the conductive stripes constitutes a plurality of intersecting regions, wherein the conductive stripes are driven by AC signals to perform the first type of position detection, and the conductive stripes are driven by DC signals to perform the second type of position detection.

14. The device for position detection with palm rejection, comprising:

a sensor, comprising a plurality of intersecting conductive stripes; and

a controller, performing a first type of position detection and a second type of position detection, wherein the first type of position detection defines an omitted area, and the second type of position detection is performed outside the omitted area.

15. The device for position detection with palm rejection of claim 14, wherein the omitted area is a contact area that a palm depresses a sensor, and the contact position that a pen depresses the sensor is determined by the single position detection.

16. The device for position detection with palm rejection of claim 14, wherein the first type of position detection is a multiple position detection of capacitive type, resistive type or optical type.

17. The device for position detection with palm rejection of claim 14, wherein the omitted area comprises a plurality of independent omitted areas.

The device for position detection with palm rejection of claim 14, wherein the conductive stripes comprise a plurality of first conductive stripes and a plurality of second conductive stripes and the sensor comprises a piezoelectric layer between the first conductive stripes and the second conductive stripes.

The device for position detection with palm rejection of claim 14, wherein the conductive stripes constitutes a plurality of intersecting regions, wherein the conductive stripes are driven by AC signals to perform the first type of position detection, and the conductive stripes are driven by DC signals to perform the second type of position detection.

20. The device for position detection with palm rejection of claim 14, the sensor comprises a first type sensor and a second type sensor, wherein the first and second types of position detection are performed by the first type sensor and the second type sensor, respectively.
