Abstract

A method of operation of a navigation system includes: generating candidate routes from a start location to a destination; calculating a route travel fuel cost with a vehicle fuel consumption rate of a vehicle; calculating a route acceleration fuel cost from an acceleration of the vehicle; calculating a route idle fuel cost from a vehicle idle instance of the vehicle; calculating a route fuel cost for the candidate routes with the route travel fuel cost, the route idle fuel cost and the route acceleration fuel cost; and selecting an ecological route from the candidate routes having the lowest value of the route fuel cost for displaying on a device.

Claims

1. A method of operation of a navigation system comprising:

generating candidate routes from a start location to a destination;

calculating a route travel fuel cost with a vehicle fuel consumption rate of a vehicle;

calculating a route acceleration fuel cost from an acceleration of the vehicle;

calculating a route idle fuel cost from a vehicle idle instance of the vehicle;

calculating a route fuel cost for the candidate routes with the route travel fuel cost, the route idle fuel cost and the route acceleration fuel cost; and

selecting an ecological route from the candidate routes having the lowest value of the route fuel cost for displaying on a device.

2. The method as claimed in claim 1 wherein calculating the route idle fuel cost includes calculating the route idle fuel cost with a vehicle idle time of the vehicle idle instance.

3. The method as claimed in claim 1 wherein calculating the route idle fuel cost includes calculating the route idle fuel cost based on a turn angle of the vehicle following the vehicle idle instance.

4. The method as claimed in claim 1 wherein calculating the route acceleration fuel cost includes calculating the route acceleration fuel cost based on a stop probability of the candidate routes.

5. The method as claimed in claim 1 wherein calculating the route acceleration fuel cost includes calculating the route acceleration fuel cost from a low speed acceleration cost.

6. A method of operation of a navigation system comprising:

generating candidate routes, having a route segments with a route segment length, from a start location to a destination;

calculating a route travel fuel cost with the route segment length of the route segments and a vehicle fuel consumption rate of a vehicle;

calculating a route acceleration fuel cost form an acceleration of the vehicle;

calculating a route idle fuel cost from a vehicle idle instance of the vehicle;

calculating a route fuel cost for the candidate routes with the route travel fuel cost, the route acceleration fuel cost, and the route idle fuel cost; and

selecting an ecological route from the candidate routes, having the lowest value of the route fuel cost, for displaying on a device.

7. The method as claimed in claim 6 wherein calculating the route idle fuel cost includes determining an idle probability of the vehicle idle instance at a segment transition between one of the route segments and another one of the route segments.

8. The method as claimed in claim 6 further comprising:

calculating a low speed acceleration cost of the vehicle with a pre-acceleration speed as a turn speed; and

wherein;

calculating the route acceleration fuel cost includes calculating the route acceleration fuel cost with the low speed acceleration cost.

9. The method as claimed in claim 6 wherein calculating the route travel fuel cost includes adjusting the vehicle fuel consumption rate based on vehicle properties of the vehicle.

10. The method as claimed in claim 6 further comprising:

calculating a turn speed for a turn along a divided road as a single turn; and

wherein;

calculating the route acceleration fuel cost includes calculating the route acceleration fuel cost based on the turn speed.

11. A navigation system comprising:

a route generation module for generating candidate routes from a start location to a destination;

a route travel cost module, coupled to the route generation module, for calculating a route travel fuel cost with a vehicle fuel consumption rate of a vehicle;

a route acceleration module, coupled to the route generation module, for calculating a route acceleration fuel cost from an acceleration of a vehicle;

a route idle module, coupled to the route acceleration module, for calculating a route idle fuel cost for a vehicle idle instance of the vehicle;

a route efficiency module, coupled to the route idle module, for calculating a route fuel cost of the candidate routes with the route travel fuel cost, the route idle fuel cost, and the route acceleration fuel cost;

a route selection module, coupled to the route efficiency module, for selecting an ecological route from the candidate routes having the lowest value of the route fuel cost; and

a route display module, coupled to the route selection module, for displaying the ecological route on a device.

12. The system as claimed in claim 11 wherein the route idle module includes:

an idle time module, coupled to the route idle module, for calculating a vehicle idle time of the vehicle idle instance; and

an idle cost sum module, coupled to the route idle module, for calculating the route idle fuel cost with the vehicle idle time.

13. The system as claimed in claim 11 wherein the route idle module includes an idle cost sum module, coupled to the route idle module, for calculating the route idle fuel cost based on a turn angle of a vehicle following the vehicle idle instance.

14. The system as claimed in claim 11 wherein the route acceleration module includes:

a stop probability module, coupled to the route acceleration module, for calculating a stop probability of the candidate routes; and

an acceleration cost sum module, coupled to the route acceleration module, for calculating the route acceleration fuel cost based on the stop probability.

15. The system as claimed in claim 11 wherein the route acceleration module includes:

a low speed cost module, coupled to the route acceleration module, for calculating a low speed acceleration cost with a pre-acceleration speed; and

an acceleration cost sum module, coupled to the route acceleration module, for calculating the route acceleration fuel cost with the pre-acceleration speed.

16. The system as claimed in claim 11 wherein:

the route generation module is for generating the candidate routes having route segments with a route segment length; and

the route travel cost module is for calculating the route travel fuel cost with the route segment length.

17. The system as claimed in claim 16 wherein:

the route generation module is for generating the candidate routes having a segment transition; and

the route idle module includes an idle probability module, coupled to the route idle module, for determining an idle probability of the vehicle idle instance at the segment transition between one of the route segments and another one of the route segments.

18. The system as claimed in claim 16 wherein the route acceleration module includes:

a turn angle module, coupled to the route acceleration module, for calculating a turn speed;

a low speed cost module, coupled to the route acceleration module, for calculating a low speed acceleration cost with a pre-acceleration speed as the turn speed; and

an acceleration cost sum module, coupled to the route acceleration module, for calculating the route acceleration fuel cost with the pre-acceleration speed.

19. The system as claimed in claim 16 wherein the route travel cost module includes a consumption rate adjustment module, coupled to the route travel cost module, for adjusting the vehicle fuel consumption rate based on vehicle properties of the vehicle.

20. The system as claimed in claim 16 wherein the route acceleration module includes:

a turn angle module, coupled to the route acceleration module, for calculating a turn speed for a turn along a divided road as a single turn; and

an acceleration cost sum module, coupled to the route acceleration module, for calculating the route acceleration fuel cost based on the turn speed.
