- a memory configured to store at least one type of position assist data, wherein the memory is configured to store updated position assist data for the type of position assist data;
a transceiver configured for wireless communication; and
a location based services application stored on the memory that when executed by a processor is operative to operate in a first operating mode in which the type of position assist data is not updated and operate in a second operating mode in which the type of position assist data is updated in response to at least one triggering event received by the transceiver.
