Abstract

An apparatus and method for controlling an electronic device by rotation is disclosed. The electronic device is adaptively responsive to rotation detected by at least one sensor to control deactivation of a function on the electronic device.

Claims

1. A mobile electronic device comprising:

a plurality of sensors;

a display device responsive to multi-touch inputs, the display device coupled to the plurality of sensors;

at least one of the plurality of sensors is configured to detect motion and half rotation, of the mobile electronic device, to a back of the mobile electronic device; and

wherein the mobile electronic device is configured to turn off a function of the mobile electronic device based on the detected motion and half rotation.

2. The mobile electronic device of claim 1, wherein the mobile electronic device is a mobile phone.

3. The mobile electronic device of claim 1 further comprising:

a transceiver configured to receive segmented content related to an image displayed on the display device;

wherein the segmented content is received via one or more multimedia messaging service (MMS) messages subsequent to a request transmitted by the transceiver in response to the detected motion and half rotation.

4. The mobile electronic device of claim 1 further comprising an organic light emitting diode (OLED) flexible display device coupled to the back of the mobile electronic device and wherein the function of the mobile electronic device is the display device being turned off.

5. The mobile electronic device of claim 1, wherein the display device responsive to multi-touch inputs is an organic light emitting diode (OLED) flexible display device.

6. The mobile electronic device of claim 1 wherein the detected motion and half rotation, of the mobile electronic device, is a turning over to the back of the mobile electronic device.

7. The mobile electronic device of claim 1 further comprising circuitry configured to trigger a request for information based on the detected motion and half rotation of the mobile electronic device.

8. A method performed by a mobile electronic device, the method comprising:

detecting motion and half rotation of the mobile electronic device by at least one of a plurality of sensors coupled to a display device in the mobile electronic device, the display device responsive to multi-touch inputs; and

turning off a function of the mobile electronic device based on the detecting motion and half rotation to a back of the mobile electronic device.

9. The method of claim 8, wherein the mobile electronic device is a mobile phone.

10. The method of claim 8 further comprising:

receiving by the mobile electronic device segmented content related to an image displayed on the display device;

wherein the segmented content is received via one or more multimedia messaging service (MMS) messages subsequent to transmitting by the mobile electronic device a request in response to the detecting motion and half rotation.

11. The method of claim 8 further comprising an organic light emitting diode (OLED) flexible display device coupled to the back of the mobile electronic device and the function of the mobile electronic device is the display device being turned off.

12. The method of claim 8, wherein the display device responsive to multi-touch inputs is an organic light emitting diode (OLED) flexible display device.

13. The method of claim 8 wherein the detecting motion and half rotation, of the mobile electronic device, is a turning over to the back of the mobile electronic device.

14. The method of claim 8 further comprising triggering, by the mobile electronic device, a request for information based on the detecting motion and half rotation of the mobile electronic device.

15. A mobile phone device comprising:

a plurality of sensors;

a display device responsive to multi-touch inputs, the display device coupled to the plurality of sensors;

at least one of the plurality of sensors is configured to detect motion and half rotation, of the mobile phone device, to a back of the mobile phone device; and

wherein the mobile phone device is configured to turn off a function related to the display device based on the detected motion and half rotation.
