1. A radially self-expandable metallic stent, comprising:
- a serpentine configuration having a plurality of struts and having a plurality of proximal and distal apices; and
a barb integrally formed as an extension of each strut and extending outwardly from a position on each strut;
wherein the barb has an elevation angle with respect to a longitudinal axis of a strut from which the barb extends of about 10 degrees to about 45 degrees.

Abstract
The present application is directed to a stent, and more particularly to a radially self-expandable metallic stent, including a serpentine configuration having a plurality of struts and having a plurality of proximal and distal apices; and a barb integrally formed as an extension of each strut and extending outwardly from a position on each strut; where the barb has an elevation angle with respect to a longitudinal axis of a strut from which the barb extends of about 10 degrees to about 45 degrees.

17. A radially self-expandable stent, comprising:
-
a serpentine configuration having a plurality of struts and having a plurality of proximal and distal apices; and a barb on each strut, the barb being an extension of the strut in which no joint or other connection to the strut exists;
the barb extending outwardly from a position on each strut located proximal to an apex. - View Dependent Claims (18, 19, 20)

21. A radially self-expanding stent having integrally formed barbs comprising:
-
a plurality of struts connected by curved apices and having a barb on each strut, each strut and barb comprising a barb/strut interface in which there is no mechanical connection to join the barb to the strut; wherein the barb on each strut extends outwardly from the strut; and wherein the apices have an outer surface with an outer radius of curvature from about 0.030 inch to about 0.070 inch and an inner surface with an inner radius of curvature of about 0.010 inch to about 0.030 inch. - View Dependent Claims (22, 23)

24. A radially self-expandable stent, comprising:
-
a serpentine configuration a plurality of struts and a plurality apices; and a barb integrally formed as part of each strut such that the barb is an extension of the strut in which no joint of connection exists, each barb extending outwardly on the strut and having an elevation angle of about 10 degrees to about 45 degrees and a kick angle of about 5 degrees to about 70 degrees, the elevation angle and the kick angle both being measured from a longitudinal axis of the strut from which the barb extends. - View Dependent Claims (25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30)
