Abstract

A system and method for enabling global and remote flash sale or daily deal commerce through unsecured electronic channels are provided. The system provides an innovative and new standard that not only enhances consumer convenience but also solves a large shortcoming by providing customers an alternative to online electronic purchasing for these types of offers. The system and method allows customers to receive and instantly purchase special offers in an entirely off-line fashion.

Claims

1. A system for purchasing items over a unsecured electronic channel, the system comprising:

one or more user computing devices; and

a flash sale system that can be coupled to each user computing device over a link that is an unsecured electronic channel, the flash sale system receiving a secured PIN from the user of a particular user computing device when the user accepts a transaction request from the flash sale system and has a validation unit that validates the secured PIN and allowing the particular user to purchase an item when the secured PIN is validated.

2. The system of claim 1, wherein the flash sale system further comprises a presentation tier that generates the transaction request for a particular user and sends the transaction request for a particular user to the user computing device of the particular user.

3. The system of claim 1 further comprising a payment gateway that handles the payment transaction for the particular user.

4. The system of claim 1, wherein the unsecured electronic channel further comprises an short message system (SMS) channel.

5. The system of claim 4 further comprising an SMS gateway connected to the flash sale system that interfaces between one or more user computing devices and the flash sale system.

6. The system of claim 1, wherein the item is one of a product and a service.

7. The system of claim 1, wherein the validation unit compares the secured PIN against a stored security token for the particular user.

8. The system of claim 7, wherein the validation unit also validates a phone number of the user computing device of the particular user.

9. The system of claim 7, wherein the stored security token for the particular user is a SHA-256 Hash Value of the Secure PIN and a phone number of the particular user.

10. A method for purchasing items over a unsecured electronic channel using one or more user computing devices, the method comprising:

receiving, by a flash sale system that can be coupled to each user computing device over a link, a secured PIN from the user of a particular user computing device when the user accepts a transaction request from the flash sale system;

validating, using a validation unit of the flash sale system, the secured PIN; and

allowing the particular user to purchase an item when the secured PIN is validated.

11. The method of claim 10 further comprising generating, by a presentation tier of the flash sale system, a transaction request for a particular user and sending the transaction request for a particular user to the user computing device of the particular user.

12. The method of claim 10 further comprising handing, by a payment gateway associated with the flash sale system, the payment transaction for the particular user.

13. The method of claim 10, wherein the unsecured electronic channel further comprises an short message system (SMS) channel.

14. The method of claim 10, wherein the item is one of a product and a service.

15. The method of claim 10, wherein validating the secured PIN further comprises comparing the secured PIN against a stored security token for the particular user.

16. The method of claim 15, wherein validating the secured PIN further comprises validating a phone number of the user computing device of the particular user.

17. The method of claim 15, wherein the stored security token for the particular user is a SHA-256 Hash Value of the Secure PIN and a phone number of the particular user.
