Abstract

A system identifies the location of a user and presents location aware stimulus material to the user. Discounts, promotions, and advertising can be delivered to the user on a wireless device based on location and path information. Stimulus material on in store monitors, billboards, and displays are modified based on information about individuals near the monitors and displays. In particular embodiments, neuro-response data is collected using a portable electroencephalography (EEG) headset while a user is exposed to stimulus materials to allow the effectiveness of the stimulus material to be determined. Stimulus materials presented can also be evaluated for neuro-response effectiveness prior to presentation to users in a location aware and personalized manner.

Claims

1. A method, comprising:

obtaining profile information associated with a user;

obtaining location information associated with a current user location;

selecting stimulus material for presentation to the user, wherein stimulus material is selected by using profile information and location information;

presenting stimulus material to the user;

monitoring response information from the user, wherein response information is used to provide updated stimulus material to the user.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein response information comprises neuro-response data.

3. The method of claim 1, wherein neuro-response data comprises electroencephalography (EEG) data.

4. The method of claim 3, wherein neuro-response data is analyzed to determine the effectiveness of the stimulus material.

5. The method of claim 4, wherein analyzing neuro-response data comprises obtaining target and distracter event related potential (ERP) measurements to determine differential measurements of ERP time domain components at multiple regions of the brain (DERP).

6. The method of claim 4, wherein analyzing neuro-response data further comprises obtaining event related time-frequency analysis of the differential response to assess the attention, emotion and memory retention (DERPSPs) across multiple frequency bands.

7. The method of claim 1, wherein location changes associated with the user are also monitored to provide updated stimulus material to the user.

8. The method of claim 1, wherein stimulus material is an advertisement or offer evaluated for effectiveness using neuro-response mechanisms.

9. The method of claim 1, wherein stimulus material is a sign or billboard evaluated for effectiveness using neuro-response mechanisms.

10. The method of claim 1, wherein the stimulus material is presented on an in-store display.

11. The method of claim 1, wherein the stimulus material is presented on a wireless device.

12. An system, comprising:

an input interface configured to obtain profile information associated with a user and location information associated with a current user location;

a processor configured to select stimulus material for presentation to the user, wherein stimulus material is selected by using profile information and location information;

an output interface configured to send stimulus material to the user;

a response monitor configured to obtain response information from the user, wherein response information is used to provide updated stimulus material to the user.

13. The system of claim 12, wherein response information comprises neuro-response data.

14. The system of claim 12, wherein neuro-response data comprises electroencephalography (EEG) data.

15. The system of claim 14, wherein neuro-response data is analyzed to determine the effectiveness of the stimulus material.

16. The system of claim 15, wherein analyzing neuro-response data comprises obtaining target and distracter event related potential (ERP) measurements to determine differential measurements of ERP time domain components at multiple regions of the brain (DERP).

17. The system of claim 15, wherein analyzing neuro-response data further comprises obtaining event related time-frequency analysis of the differential response to assess the attention, emotion and memory retention (DERPSPs) across multiple frequency bands.

18. The system of claim 12, wherein location changes associated with the user are also monitored to provide updated stimulus material to the user.

19. The system of claim 12, wherein stimulus material is an advertisement or offer.

20. An apparatus, comprising:

means for obtaining profile information associated with a user;

means for obtaining location information associated with a current user location;

means for selecting stimulus material for presentation to the user, wherein stimulus material is selected by using profile information and location information;

means for presenting stimulus material to the user;

means for monitoring response information from the user, wherein response information is used to provide updated stimulus material to the user.
