Abstract

The different illustrative embodiments provide a method, computer system, and computer program product to manage a display of objects. A processor unit displays a graphical control configured to receive a user input of a value to control the display of a set of objects relative to a group of properties for the set of objects in a table. A processor unit changes the display of the set of objects to a ratio in a plurality of ratios in the table for the set of objects relative to the group of properties for the set of objects in the table based on the value.

Claims

1. A method for managing a display of objects, the method comprising:

displaying, by a processor unit, a graphical control configured to receive a user input of a value to control the display of a set of objects relative to a group of properties for the set of objects in a table; and

responsive to receiving the user input of the value for the set of objects relative to the group of properties for the set of objects, changing, by a table management process, the display of the set of objects to a ratio in a plurality of ratios in the table for the set of objects relative to the group of properties for the set of objects in the table based on the value.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein a first ratio of the set of objects in the table relative to the level of properties for the set of objects in the table has only objects listed.

3. The method of claim 1, wherein a last ratio of the set of objects in the table relative to the level of properties for the set of objects in the table has one object listed with all properties for the object accessible.

4. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

receiving a user input of a ratio settings of the set of objects and the group of properties visible at each ratio of the plurality of ratios.

5. The method of claim 1, wherein one or more objects of the set of objects is displayed at every ratio of the plurality of ratios.

6. The method of claim 1, wherein changing, by the table management process, the display of the ratio of the plurality of ratios of the set of objects in the table relative to the group of properties for the set of objects in the table based on the value further comprises:

responsive to receiving a user input of a selected object to decrease the set of objects and increase the group of properties for the set of objects, changing, by the table management process, the display of the ratio of the plurality of ratios of the set of objects in the table by showing the objects of the set of objects nearest the selected object, wherein the selected object is the object closest to the user input, wherein the user input location on the display identifies the selected object.

7. A method for managing a display of objects, the method comprising:

displaying, by a processor unit, the display of a set of objects relative to a group of properties for the set of objects in a table configured to receive a user input to control the display of a set of objects relative to a group of properties for the set of objects in the table; and

responsive to receiving the user input of a value for the set of objects relative to the level of properties for the set of objects, changing, by the table management process, the display of the set of objects to a ratio in a plurality of ratios in the table for the set of objects relative to the level of properties for the set of objects in the table based on the value.

8. The method of claim 7, wherein the user input is from a scroll bar of a mouse.

9. The method of claim 7, wherein the user input is from a touch screen.

10. A computer system for managing a display of objects, the computer system comprising:

a processor, a computer readable memory and a computer readable storage medium;

first program instructions to display a graphical control configured to receive a user input of a value to control the display of a set of objects relative to a group of properties for the set of objects in a table; and

responsive to receiving the user input of the value for the set of objects relative to the group of properties for the set of objects, second program instructions to change the display of the set of objects to a ratio in a plurality of ratios in the table for the set of objects relative to the group of properties for the set of objects in the table based on the value; and

wherein the first and second program instructions are stored on the computer readable storage medium for execution by the processor via the computer readable memory.

11. The computer system of claim 10, wherein a first ratio of the set of objects in the table relative to the level of properties for the set of objects in the table has only one property associated with each object, wherein the one property is the name of the object.

12. The computer system of claim 10, wherein a last ratio of the set of objects in the table relative to the level of properties for the set of objects in the table has one object listed with all properties for the object accessible.

13. The computer system of claim 10 further comprising:

third program instructions to receive a user input of a ratio settings of the set of objects and the group of properties visible at each ratio of the plurality of ratios; and

wherein the fourth program instructions are stored on the computer readable storage medium for execution by the processor via the computer readable memory.

14. The computer system of claim 10, wherein one or more objects of the set of objects is displayed at every ratio of the plurality of ratios.

15. The computer system of claim 10, wherein second program instructions to change the display of the set of objects to a ratio in a plurality of ratios in the table for the set of objects relative to the group of properties for the set of objects in the table based on the value comprises:

responsive to receiving a user input of a selected object to decrease the set of object and increase the group of properties for the set of objects, fourth program instructions to change the display of the ratio of the plurality of ratios of the set of objects in the table by showing the objects of the set of objects nearest the selected object, wherein the selected object is the object closest to the user input; and

wherein the fourth program instructions are stored on the computer readable storage medium for execution by the processor via the computer readable memory.

16. A computer program product for managing a display of objects, the computer program product comprising:

a computer readable storage medium;

first program instructions to display a graphical control configured to receive a user input of a value to control the display of a set of objects relative to a group of properties for the set of objects in a table; and

responsive to receiving the user input of the value for the set of objects relative to the group of properties for the set of objects, second program instructions to change the display of the set of objects to a ratio in a plurality of ratios in the table for the set of objects relative to the group of properties for the set of objects in the table based on the value; and

wherein the first and second program instructions are stored on the computer readable storage medium.

17. The computer program product of claim 16, wherein a first ratio of the set of objects in the table relative to the level of properties for the set of objects in the table has only objects listed.

18. The computer program product of claim 16, wherein a last ratio of the set of objects in the table relative to the level of properties for the set of objects in the table has only one property associated with each object, wherein the one property is the name of the object

19. The computer program product of claim 16 further comprising:

third program instructions to receive a user input of a ratio settings of the set of objects and the group of properties visible at each ratio of the plurality of ratios; and

wherein the fourth program instructions are stored on the computer readable storage medium.

20. The computer program product of claim 16, wherein one or more objects of the set of objects is displayed at every ratio of the plurality of ratios.

21. The computer program product of claim 16, wherein second program instructions to change the display of the set of objects to a ratio in a plurality of ratios in the table for the set of objects relative to the group of properties for the set of objects in the table based on the value comprises:

responsive to receiving a user input of a selected object to decrease the set of object and increase the group of properties for the set of objects, fourth program instructions to change the display of the ratio of the plurality of ratios of the set of objects in the table by showing the objects of the set of objects nearest the selected object, wherein the selected object is the object closest to the user input; and

wherein the fourth program instructions are stored on the computer readable storage medium.
