Abstract

Certain examples provide systems, methods, and apparatus to provide information regarding blood donation. Certain examples include a method for providing blood collection information to a donor. The method includes displaying a graphical representation of a donor'"'"'s donation progress toward a goal for blood component collection to a donor via an executable application icon on a mobile device. The graphical representation is to provide a visual indication of the donor'"'"'s donation progress toward a goal. The donor'"'"'s donation progress toward the goal is based on data from a donation facility provided to the mobile device and is displayed via the graphical representation without the donor executing the application. The method includes facilitating access to additional blood donation information for the donor by executing the application via the graphical representation on the mobile device. The method includes facilitating donor action with respect to the blood donation information via the mobile device.

Claims

1. A computer-implemented method for providing blood collection information to a donor, said method comprising:

displaying a graphical representation of a donor'"'"'s donation progress toward a goal for blood component collection to a donor via an executable application icon on a mobile device, the graphical representation providing a visual indication of the donor'"'"'s donation progress toward a goal, the donor'"'"'s donation progress toward the goal based on data from a donation facility provided to the mobile device and displayed via the graphical representation without the donor executing the application;

providing access to additional blood donation information for the donor by executing the application via the graphical representation on the mobile device;

facilitating donor action with respect to the blood donation information via the mobile device; and

dynamically updating the information available via the mobile device based at least in part on tracking the donor'"'"'s donation activity.

2. The method of claim 1, further comprising providing access to educational materials for the donor via the mobile device.

3. The method of claim 2, wherein providing the educational materials further comprises presenting the educational materials as a game to the donor.

4. The method of claim 1, wherein the graphical representation conveys a visual indication of at least one of an availability of the donor to donate and a proximity of the donor to a donation location.

5. The method of claim 4, wherein the graphical representation comprises a blood drop icon including alphanumeric information regarding at least one of a) the donation progress toward a goal, b) the availability of the donor to donate, and c) the proximity of the donor to a donation location.

6. The method of claim 1, further comprising facilitating donor update of at least one of a) a goal for donation of at least one blood component by the donor and b) donor information via the mobile device for updating at a blood collection facility.

7. The method of claim 1, further comprising pushing information regarding a need for donation at a blood collection facility to the donor via the mobile device based on at least one of a need for a blood component and a relationship of the donor to the blood collection facility.

8. The method of claim 7, wherein the relationship comprises at least one of a proximity of the donor to the blood collection facility and a prior donation by the donor at the blood collection facility.

9. The method of claim 7, further comprising pushing donor information to a blood collection facility to enable the blood collection facility to send information to the donor.

10. The method of claim 1, further comprising facilitating blood component donation by the donor via a game on the mobile device.

11. The method of claim 10, wherein the game comprises at least one of a challenge between a group of donors and a set of incentives corresponding to a plurality of donation goals.

12. The method of claim 1, wherein the donor'"'"'s donation activity is linked to one or more incentives.

13. A mobile blood donor information system comprising:

a processor and memory storing instructions to display content and accept user input to implement, via a mobile device;

an executable application to provide access to blood donation information for a donor by executing the application via a mobile device;

a graphical representation to provide a visual depiction of progress to a blood donation goal for a donor, the graphical representation associated with the executable application on the mobile device, the graphical representation to provide the visual depiction without the donor executing the application and to facilitate access to additional blood donation information for the donor by executing the application using the graphical representation on the mobile device; and

an interface to facilitate donor action with respect to the blood donation information via the mobile device,

the processor to dynamically update the information available via the mobile device based at least in part on tracking the donor'"'"'s donation activity.

14. The system of claim 13, further comprising educational material regarding blood donation to the donor via the mobile device, the educational material to be presented as at least one of a) a game and b) an interactive teaching application.

15. The system of claim 14, wherein the educational material comprises statistics regarding usage of donated blood products based on the donor'"'"'s donations and goals.

16. The system of claim 13, wherein the graphical representation is to convey a visual indication of at least one of an availability of the donor to donate and a proximity of the donor to a donation location.

17. The system of claim 16, wherein the graphical representation comprises a blood drop icon including alphanumeric information regarding at least one of a) the donation progress, b) the availability of the donor to donate, and c) the proximity of the donor to a donation location.

18. The system of claim 13, wherein the processor is to facilitate donor update of at least one of a) a goal for donation of at least one blood component by the donor and b) donor information via the mobile device for updating at a blood collection facility.

19. The system of claim 13, wherein the processor is to accept a push of information regarding a need for donation at a blood collection facility to the donor via the mobile device based on at least one of a need for a blood component and a relationship of the donor to the blood collection facility.

20. The system of claim 19, wherein the relationship comprises at least one of a proximity of the donor to the blood collection facility and a prior donation by the donor at the blood collection facility.

21. The system of claim 13, wherein the interface is to facilitate blood component donation by the donor via a game on the mobile device.

22. The system of claim 21, wherein the game comprises at least one of a challenge between a group of donors and a set of incentives corresponding to a plurality of donation goals.

23. The system of claim 13, wherein the donor'"'"'s donation activity is linked to one or more incentives.

24. A tangible computer readable storage medium including program code for execution by a processor, the program code, when implemented, is to provide:

an executable application to provide access to blood donation information for a donor by executing the application via a mobile device;

a graphical representation to provide, via a mobile device, a visual depiction of a progress to a blood donation goal for a donor, the graphical representation associated with the executable application on the mobile device, the graphical representation to provide the visual depiction without the donor executing the application and to facilitate access to additional blood donation information for the donor by executing the application using the graphical representation on the mobile device; and

an interface to facilitate donor action with respect to the blood donation information via the mobile device,

the processor to dynamically update the information available via the mobile device based at least in part on tracking the donor'"'"'s donation activity.

25. The computer readable storage medium of claim 24, further comprising educational material regarding blood donation to the donor via the mobile device, the educational material to be presented as at least one of a) a game and b) an interactive teaching application.

26. The computer readable storage medium of claim 25, wherein the educational material comprises statistics regarding usage of donated blood products based on the donor'"'"'s donations and goals.

27. The computer readable storage medium of claim 24, wherein the graphical representation is to convey a visual indication of at least one of an availability of the donor to donate and a proximity of the donor to a donation location.

28. The computer readable storage medium of claim 27, wherein the graphical representation comprises a blood drop icon including alphanumeric information regarding at least one of a) the donation progress, b) the availability of the donor to donate, and c) the proximity to the donation location.

29. The computer readable storage medium of claim 24, wherein the processor is to facilitate donor update of at least one of a) a goal for donation of at least one blood component by the donor and b) donor information via the mobile device for updating at a blood collection facility.

30. The computer readable storage medium of claim 24, wherein the graphical representation and the interface are to alert the donor regarding the donor'"'"'s availability to donate based on a last donation date and a guideline regarding donation availability.

31. The computer readable storage medium of claim 24, wherein the donor'"'"'s blood donation progress is to be presented to the donor as a game via the mobile device, in which the donor advances through the game based on blood donations made.

32. The computer readable storage medium of claim 31, wherein the game comprises at least one of a challenge between a group of donors and a set of incentives corresponding to a plurality of donation goals.

The computer readable storage medium of claim 24, wherein the processor is to accept a push of information regarding a need for donation at a blood collection facility to the donor via the mobile device based on at least one of a need for a blood component and a relationship of the donor to the blood collection facility.

34. The computer readable storage medium of claim 24, wherein the processor is to accept a push of information regarding a donation guideline to alert at least one of an operator and the donor via the mobile device that the donor has not satisfied the donation guideline.

35. The computer readable storage medium of claim 34, wherein the donation guideline includes an amount of time for the donor to wait before leaving a blood collection facility after providing a blood donation and wherein the donor has not satisfied the donation guideline by leaving earlier than the amount of time specified in the donation guideline.
