Apparatus and Method for Controlled Ethernet Switching
First Claim
1. A method, comprising:
- at a scanner device, establishing at least a first connection, a second connection, and a third connection, wherein the first and second connections utilize a first communication protocol and the third connection utilizes a second communication protocol, and wherein the first communication protocol differs from the second communication protocol;
receiving, via the first connection, a first communication addressed to a first address;
in response to receiving the first communication addressed to the first address, sending, via the second connection, at least part of the first communication from the scanner device;
receiving, via the first connection, a second communication addressed to a second address, wherein the first address differs from the second address; and
in response to receiving the second communication addressed to the second address, converting the second communication to conform to the second communication protocol, and sending, via the third connection, the converted second communication from the scanner device.

Abstract
Methods, devices, and computer-readable media related to use of a scanner device and access node to repair a device-under-repair are disclosed. The first and second connections can utilize a first communication protocol (e.g., Ethernet or Bluetooth) and the third connection can utilize a different second communication protocol (e.g., OBD-II). In response to receiving a first communication addressed to a first address, the first communication can be sent from the scanner device via the second connection. In response to receiving a second communication addressed to a second address, where the first address differs from the second address, the second communication can be converted to conform to the second communication protocol and the converted second communication can be sent from the scanner device via the third connection.
