Abstract

A grout for filing a micro-trench formed in the ground includes comprises Class F fly ash in a range of approximately 0 to 30% by weight of grout and cement kiln dust in a range of approximately 50 to 90% by weight of grout.

Claims

1. A grout for a backfilling a micro-trench, comprising:

class F fly ash in a range of approximately 0 to 30% by weight of the grout; and

cement kiln dust in a range of approximately 50 to 90% by weight of the grout.

2. The grout of claim 1, wherein it is formed as a single grout composition for mixing with water to yield a finished grout.

3. The grout of claim 1, wherein the grout mixture is inserted into the micro-trench and consolidates into voids in pavement and aggregate sub base areas giving structural stability to any defects in said pavement and aggregate sub base areas.

4. The grout of claim 1, further comprising:

a mid-range water reducer.

5. The grout of claim 4, wherein said mid-range water reducer is naphthalene.

6. The grout of claim 4, wherein said mid-range water reducer is a lignosulphonate.

7. The grout of claim 4, wherein said mid-range water reducer is added at a rate of approximately 0-12 fluid ounce equivalent per hundred-weight of dry grout mixture.

8. The grout of claim 4, further comprising:

a dry sodium hydroxide material.

9. The grout of claim 8, wherein said dry sodium hydroxide material is added at a rate of approximately 0-19 dry ounces per hundred weight of dry grout mixture.

10. A method of preparing a micro-trench backfill grout from recycled materials, comprising:

preparing a single component dry grout mixture comprising approximately 0-30% class F fly ash and approximately 50-90% cement kiln dust;

adding approximately five gallons of water to approximately 70 pounds of said dry grout mixture;

adding a mid range water reducer at an addition rate of approximately 0-12 fluid ounce equivalent per hundred-weight of said dry grout mixture; and

adding dry sodium hydroxide at an addition rate of between approximately 0-19 dry ounces per hundred weight of said dry grout mixture.
