Abstract

An apparatus having a longitudinal shaft. A guide feature is associated with the longitudinal shaft. The guide feature is disposed adjacent to a distal end of the longitudinal shaft. At least one ensnarement feature is associated with the longitudinal shaft. The at least one ensnarement feature is disposed at least partially proximally relative to the guide feature.

Claims

1. An apparatus comprising:

a longitudinal shaft;

a guide feature associated with the longitudinal shaft, the guide feature disposed adjacent to a distal end of the longitudinal shaft;

at least one ensnarement feature associated with the longitudinal shaft, the at least one ensnarement feature disposed at least partially proximally relative to the guide feature.

2. The apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the longitudinal shaft includes a flexible member.

3. The apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the longitudinal shaft includes a metallic wire.

4. The apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the longitudinal shaft includes a plurality of carbon fiber strands.

5. The apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the longitudinal shaft includes a hydrophilic surface.

6. The apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the guide feature includes a curved distal end of the longitudinal shaft.

7. The apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the guide feature includes an integral feature of the longitudinal shaft.

8. The apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the guide feature is coupled to the longitudinal shaft via the at least one ensnarement feature.

9. The apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the at least one ensnarement feature includes at least one loop.

10. The apparatus according to claim 9, wherein the at least one loop is oriented at an angle relative to an axis of the longitudinal shaft.

11. The apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the at least one ensnarement feature includes a basket feature.

12. The apparatus according to claim 11, wherein the basket feature includes a porous membrane.

13. The apparatus according to claim 11, wherein the basket feature includes an opening structure.

14. The apparatus according to claim 11, wherein the basket feature includes a variable opening diameter.

15. The apparatus according to claim 1, further including a catheter including a longitudinal lumen configured to slidingly receive at least a portion of the longitudinal shaft.

16. The apparatus according to claim 1, further including at least one radiopaque marker.

17. An apparatus comprising:

a catheter; and

a snare configured to be least partially slidably disposed within the catheter, the snare including a longitudinal shaft;

a guide feature disposed adjacent the longitudinal shaft, the guide feature providing a curved distal end of the longitudinal shaft; and

at least one loop disposed at least partially proximal relative to the guide feature.

18. The apparatus according to claim 17, wherein the snare includes one or more filaments disposed within a hydrophilic sheath.

19. An apparatus comprising:

a catheter; and

a snare configured to be at least partially slidably disposed within the catheter, the snare including a longitudinal shaft, a guide feature disposed adjacent the longitudinal shaft, the guide feature providing a curved distal end of the longitudinal shaft; and

a basket feature disposed at least partially proximal relative to the guide feature.

20. The apparatus according to claim 19, wherein the snare includes one or more filaments disposed within a hydrophilic sheath.
