Abstract

Systems, methods, apparatus, and computer program products are provided for receiving content available for consumption. For example, a user device can receive a message about content available for consumption and access the content via the appropriate provided in the user'"'"'s broadcast area. Moreover, a user device can be used to access program information based on the user device'"'"'s location.

Claims

1. A method for receiving content available for consumption, the method comprising:

identifying, via an electronic device, a broadcast area associated with the electronic device, wherein the broadcast area is identified based at least in part on the electronic device'"'"'s location;

after identifying the broadcast area, receiving, via the electronic device, program information for the broadcast area;

receiving, via the electronic device, a request for content, wherein the requested content is included in the program information; and

receiving, via the electronic device, the requested content.

2. The method of claim 1 further comprising receiving updated program information on a periodic basis.

3. The method of claim 1, wherein the broadcast area is identified at least in part by using a global positioning satellite system.

4. The method of claim 1, wherein the broadcast area is identified at least in part by triangulation.

5. The method of claim 1, wherein the requested content is received via an over-the-air broadcast.

6. An apparatus comprising at least one processor and at least one memory including computer program code, the at least one memory and the computer program code configured to, with the processor, cause the apparatus to at least:

identify a broadcast area associated with the electronic device, wherein the broadcast area is identified based at least in part on the electronic device'"'"'s location;

after identifying the broadcast area, receive program information for the broadcast area;

receive a request for content, wherein the requested content is included in the program information; and

receive the requested content.

7. The apparatus of claim 6, wherein the memory and computer program code are further configured to, with the processor, cause the apparatus to receive updated program information on a periodic basis.

8. The apparatus of claim 6, wherein the broadcast area is identified at least in part by using a global positioning satellite system.

9. The apparatus of claim 6, wherein the broadcast area is identified at least in part by triangulation.

10. The apparatus of claim 6, wherein the requested content is received via an over-the-air broadcast

11. A computer program product for receiving content available for consumption, the computer program product comprising at least one computer-readable storage medium having computer-readable program code portions stored therein, the computer-readable program code portions comprising:

an executable portion configured to identify a broadcast area associated with the electronic device, wherein the broadcast area is identified based at least in part on the electronic device'"'"'s location;

an executable portion configured to, after identifying the broadcast area, receive program information for the broadcast area;

an executable portion configured to receive a request for content, wherein the requested content is included in the program information; and

an executable portion configured to receive the requested content.

12. The computer program product of claim 11 further comprising an executable portion configured to receive updated program information on a periodic basis.

13. The computer program product of claim 11, wherein the broadcast area is identified at least in part by using a global positioning satellite system.

14. The computer program product of claim 11, wherein the broadcast area is identified at least in part by triangulation.

15. The computer program product of claim 11, wherein the requested content is received via an over-the-air broadcast
