Abstract

A method for discovering resources includes identifying one or more geographically fixed transceivers with which a mobile device is in communication and through which the mobile device can communicate with other devices. A resource geographically associated with the identified one or more transceivers is identified. Identification occurs without regard to a signal strength or strengths experienced between the mobile device and the one or more transceivers. The mobile device is caused to display data corresponding to the identified resource

Claims

1. A method for discovering resources, comprising:

identifying one or more geographically fixed transceivers with which a mobile device is in communication and through which the mobile device can communicate with other devices;

identifying, without regard to a signal strength or strengths experienced between the mobile device and the one or more transceivers, a resource geographically associated with the identified one or more transceivers; and

causing a display by the mobile device of data corresponding to the identified resource.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein identifying comprises identifying a geographic region corresponding to the identified one or more transceivers and identifying a resource located within the geographic region.

3. The method of claim 1, wherein the identified resource is a print service and causing comprises causing the mobile device to display content for use in submitting a print job to be produced by the print service.

The method of claim 1, further comprising identifying a context associated with the mobile device or a user of the mobile device and wherein identifying a resource comprises identifying a resource geographically associated with the identified one or more transceivers and contextually associated with the mobile device or the user of the mobile device.

5. The method of claim 4 wherein:

identifying a context comprises identifying at least one of an ability of the mobile device to interact with one or more resource types, a user'"'"'s desire to interact with a given resource type, and requirements of a user'"'"'s desired interaction; and

identifying a resource comprises identifying a resource geographically associated with the identified one or more transceivers and that is at least one of;

a resource with which the mobile device is able to interact;

a resource of a type which a user desire'"'"'s to interact, and

a resource compatible with the requirements of a user'"'"'s desired interaction.

6. The method of claim 1, further comprising identifying a user'"'"'s desire to interact with a resource of an identified type and wherein:

causing a display comprises automatically causing a display by the mobile device of data corresponding to the identified resource only upon a determination that the resource is of the identified type.

7. The method of claim 6, further comprising identifying requirements of the user'"'"'s desired interaction, and wherein:

causing a display comprises automatically causing a display by the mobile device of data corresponding to the identified resource only upon a determination that the resource is of the identified type and compatible with requirements of the user'"'"'s desired interaction.

8. A computer readable medium having instructions that when executed by a mobile device cause the implementation of a method, the method comprising:

identifying one or more geographically fixed transceivers with which a mobile device is in communication and through which the mobile device can communicate with other devices;

identifying, without regard to a signal strength or strengths experienced between the mobile device and the one or more transceivers, a resource geographically associated with the identified one or more transceivers; and

causing a display by the mobile device of data corresponding to the identified resource.

9. The medium of claim 8, wherein:

identifying one or more transceivers comprises communicating data identifying the one or more transceivers to a destination remote from the mobile device; and

identifying a resource comprises receiving from a source remote from the mobile device data identifying the resource geographically associated with the identified one or more transceivers.

10. The medium of claim 8, wherein the identified resource is a print service and causing a display comprises causing a display by the mobile device of content for use in causing the mobile device to submit a print job to be produced by the print service.

The medium of claim 8, wherein the method further comprises identifying a context associated with the mobile device or a user of the mobile device and wherein identifying a resource comprises identifying a resource geographically associated with the identified one or more transceivers and contextually associated with the mobile device or the user of the mobile device.

12. The medium of claim 11 wherein:

identifying a context comprises identifying at least one of the mobile device'"'"'s ability to interact with one or more resource types, a user'"'"'s desire to interact with a given resource type, and requirements of a user'"'"'s desired interaction; and

identifying a resource comprises identifying a resource geographically associated with the identified one or more transceivers and that is at least one of;

a resource with which the mobile device is able to interact;

a resource of a type which a user desire'"'"'s to interact, and

a resource compatible with the requirements of a user'"'"'s desired interaction.

13. The medium of claim 8, wherein the method further comprises identifying a user'"'"'s desire to interact with a resource of an identified type and wherein:

causing a display comprises automatically causing a display by the mobile device of data corresponding to the identified resource only upon a determination that the resource is of the identified type.

14. The medium of claim 13, wherein the method further comprises identifying requirements of the user'"'"'s desired interaction, and wherein:

causing a display comprises automatically causing a display by the mobile device of data corresponding to the identified resource only upon a determination that the resource is of the identified type and compatible with requirements of the user'"'"'s desired interaction.

15. A system for discovering resources, comprising:

a transceiver engine configured to receive data identifying a one or more geographically fixed transceivers with which a mobile device is in communication and through which the mobile device can communicate with other devices;

a resource engine configured to identify, without regard to a signal strength or strengths experienced between the mobile device and the one or more transceivers, a resource geographically associated with the identified one or more transceivers; and

a display engine configured to cause a display by the mobile device of data corresponding to the resource.

16. The system of claim 15, wherein the identified resource is a print service and the display engine is configured to cause the mobile device to display content for use in submitting a print job to be produced by the print service.

The system of claim 15, wherein the resource engine is configured to identify a context associated with the mobile device or a user of the mobile device and the resource engine is configured to identify a resource geographically associated with the identified one or more transceivers and contextually associated with the mobile device or the user of the mobile device.

19. The system of claim 15, wherein:

the resource engine is configured to identify a user'"'"'s desire to interact with a resource of an identified type; and

the display engine is configured to cause a display by automatically causing a display by the mobile device of data corresponding to the identified resource only upon a determination that the resource is of the identified type.

20. The system of claim 19, wherein:

the resource engine is configured to identify requirements of the user'"'"'s desired interaction; and

the display engine is configured to cause a display by automatically causing a display by the mobile device of data corresponding to the identified resource only upon a determination that the resource is of the identified type and compatible with requirements of the user'"'"'s desired interaction.

18. The system of claim 18 wherein:

the resource engine is configured to identify a context by identifying at least one of the mobile device'"'"'s ability to interact with one or more resource types, a user'"'"'s desire to interact with a given resource type, and requirements of a user'"'"'s desired interaction; and

the resource engine is configured to identify a resource by identifying a resource geographically associated with the identified one or more transceivers and that is at least one of;

a resource with which the mobile device is able to interact;

a resource of a type which a user desire'"'"'s to interact, and

a resource compatible with the requirements of a user'"'"'s desired interaction.
