Abstract

A content tagging and management capability is provided for enabling automatic tagging of content and management of tagged content. A method includes receiving content including an object, and automatically associating an information structure with the object included within the content to form thereby tagged content. The content may be received locally at a content capture device, and the information structure may be automatically associated with the object by the content capture device. The automatic tagging may be performed at the content capture device when the content is captured by the content capture device. The content may be received at a computer, and the information structure may be automatically associated with the object by the computer. The information structure may be available locally or retrieved from one or more remote devices.

Claims

1. A method, comprising:

receiving content comprising an object; and

automatically associating an information structure with the object included within the content to form thereby tagged content.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein the content is received locally at a content capture device configured for capturing the content.

3. The method of claim 2, wherein the information structure is automatically associated with the object by the content capture device.

4. The method of claim 1, wherein the content is received at a computer.

5. The method of claim 4, wherein the information structure is automatically associated with the object by the computer.

6. The method of claim 4, wherein the computer is a device on a home network of a user or a network device.

7. The method of claim 1, wherein the content comprises at least one of text, audio, and video.

8. The method of claim 1, wherein automatically associating the information structure with the object included within the content to form thereby tagged content comprises one of:

associating a content tag with the object included within the content, and associating the information structure with the content tag such that selection of the content tag enables access to the information structure;

or

associating the information structure with a content tag, and associating the content tag with the object included within the content such that selection of the content tag enables access to the information structure.

9. The method of claim 8, wherein associating a content tag with the object included within the content comprises:

determining a position of the object within the content; and

associating the content tag with the object included within the content using the determined position.

10. The method of claim 9, wherein determining a position of the object within the content comprises:

receiving position information from at least one sensor associated with the object; and

determining the position of the object within the content using the position information.

11. The method of claim 1, wherein automatically associating the information structure with the object included within the content to form thereby tagged content comprises:

receiving object information associated with the object and populating the information structure with at least a portion of the object information.

12. The method of claim 1, wherein the information structure securely stores object information associated with the object.

13. The method of claim 12, wherein at least a portion of the object information is received in conjunction with the content.

14. The method of claim 12, wherein the content is received locally at a content capture device configured for capturing the content, wherein at least a portion of the object information is received at the content capture device from a sensor associated with the object.

15. The method of claim 12, wherein the content is received locally at a computer, wherein at least a portion of the object information is received at the computer from at least one of a content capture device which captured the content and at least one other device.

16. The method of claim 15, wherein the at least one other device comprises at least one of an adjunct device on a home network and a network device of a communication network.

17. The method of claim 12, wherein the object information is associated with the information structure prior to receiving the content, wherein the information structure to be associated with the object is identified from at least one of an object identifier of the object or a sensor identifier of a sensor associated with the object.

18. The method of claim 1, wherein the object is a content object.

19. A computer readable storage medium storing instructions which, when executed by a processor, cause the processor to perform a method comprising:

receiving content comprising an object; and

automatically associating an information structure with the object included within the content to form thereby tagged content.

20. An apparatus, comprising:

a processor configured for;

receiving content comprising an object; and

automatically associating an information structure with the object included within the content to form thereby tagged content.

21. A method, comprising:

receiving content including an object;

receiving object information associated with the object; and

automatically associating the object information with the object included within the content.
