Abstract

A computer system and method for operating a computer system for a secure mobile bill presentment and payment system that enables bill payments to be made by a user of a mobile device, such as a cellular phone, smart phone, PDA, notebook, tablet or other network connected mobile device, a biller to send product or service messages or related information to enrolled customers in the mobile bill payment computer system, and for a biller to create a marketing broadcast for a product or service that an enrolled customer can purchase via the computer system.

Claims

1. A computer system comprising;

a mobile bill presentment and payment system including a first computer processor, a first database for storing data respecting customers of a service provider, a first interface to interact with a customer of said service provider via a mobile device of customer to register said customer for presentment of periodic service bills of said service provider and payment of said bills, a second interface for generating SMS text messaging with respect to customer, a third interface registering customer via interactive voice response to collect securely sensitive informational data in storable computer readable format with respect to said customer and a voice print from customer for storing in said database, a payment processor, a fourth interface for establishing web services, a fifth interface for payment processor to interact via a computer controlled network with service provider and other third parties, a sixth interface for communication via a computer controlled network with registered customer via mobile device of registered customer to obtain payment instruction for presented bill according to selection by customer of one of a plurality of payment options and to report the result of the payment via mobile device of customer.

2. The computer system of claim 1 further including a seventh interface for product or service notices and offers created by service provider to be sent by email to registered customers.

3. The computer system of claim 1 wherein the computer controlled network is the Internet and the third parties include a consolidator and financial institutions.

4. The computer system of claim 1 wherein the computer controlled network is an Automated Clearing House network for transfer of funds from a financial institution to one of service provider and the mobile bill presentment and payment system.

5. The computer system of claim 1 wherein the computer controlled network includes both the Internet and an Automated Clearing House network.

The computer system of claim 1 wherein if the customer selects payment by credit/debit card, payment processor generates a transaction to debit customer'"'"'s debit card or charge customer'"'"'s credit card to credit a financial holding an account of the mobile bill presentment and payment system.

7. A method of operating a computer system for mobile bill presentment and payment including a first computer processor, a first database for storing data respecting customers of a service provider, and a plurality of interfaces comprising the steps of interacting by SMS text messaging with a customer of said service provider via a mobile device of customer to register said customer for presentment of periodic service bills of said service provider and payment of said bills, interacting with customer via interactive voice response to collect securely sensitive informational data in storable computer readable format with respect to said customer and a voice print from customer to register the customer, storing in said database the collected sensitive informational data and voice print, establishing web services, communicating via a computer controlled network with a registered customer via mobile device of customer to obtain payment instruction for a presented bill according to selection by customer of one of a plurality of payment options, controlling a payment processor to initiate payment transactions via a computer controlled network with at least one of service provider, consolidators, billers and financial institutions according to the selection by customer, and reporting the result of the payment via mobile device of customer.

8. The method of claim 7 including the further step of broadcasting via the Internet product or service notices and offers created by service provider to registered customers.

9. The method of claim 7 wherein the payment transactions are sent via the Internet.

10. The method of claim 7 wherein the payment transactions are sent via an Automated Clearing House network for transfer of funds from a financial institution

11. The method of claim 7 wherein payment transactions are sent via the Internet and an Automated Clearing House network.

12. The method of claim 7 wherein if the customer selects payment by credit/debit card, generating via payment processor a transaction to debit customer'"'"'s debit card or charge customer'"'"'s credit card to credit a financial holding an account of the mobile bill presentment and payment system.
