Abstract

An approach is provided for determining results based on filtered information. A context request is detected from one or more programs. Another program determines to filter the content request, the one or more programs, or a combination thereof. One or more results of the content request are determined based, at least in part, on the filtered content request, the filtered one or more programs, or a combination thereof

Claims

1. A method comprising:

detecting a content request from one or more programs;

determining, at another program, to filter the content request, the one or more programs, or a combination thereof; and

determining one or more results of the content request based, at least in part, on the filtered content request, the filtered one or more programs, or a combination thereof.

2. A method of claim 1, further comprising:

determining context information associated with a device, a user of the device, or a combination thereof,

wherein the determining to filter is based, at least in part, on the context information.

3. A method of claim 2, wherein the context information includes a social graph, the method further comprising:

determining the social graph based, at least in part, on the user,

wherein the determining to filter is based, at least in part, on a least a portion of the social graph.

4. A method of claim 3, further comprising:

determining the social graph from one or more social networks, one or more contact lists, a communication history, context information, or a combination thereof.

5. A method of claim 3, further comprising:

determining a hierarchy associated with the social graph,

wherein the determining to filter is further based, at least in part, on the hierarchy.

6. A method of claim 2, wherein the context information includes a location, a time, an activity, or a combination thereof.

7. A method of claim 1, further comprising:

determining relevancy information associated with the context information,

wherein the determining to filter is further based, at least in part, on the relevancy information.

8. A method of claim 1, wherein the one or more programs, the another program, or a combination thereof operate at an application level, a system level, or a combination thereof.

9. A method of claim 1, further comprising:

determining one or more unfiltered results; and

determining to present the one or more results, the one or more unfiltered results, or a combination thereof,

wherein the presentation distinguishes the one or more results from the one or more unfiltered results.

10. A method of claim 1, wherein the content request, the one or more programs, the one or more results, or a combination thereof are represented as one or more computation closures, one or more information closures, or a combination thereof.

11. An apparatus comprising:

at least one processor; and

at least one memory including computer program code for one or more programs,

the at least one memory and the computer program code configured to, with the at least one processor, cause the apparatus to perform at least the following,

detect a content request from one or more programs;

determine, at another program, to filter the content request, the one or more programs, or a combination thereof; and

determine one or more results of the content request based, at least in part, on the filtered content request, the filtered one or more programs, or a combination thereof.

12. An apparatus of claim 11, wherein the apparatus is further caused to:

determine context information associated with a device, a user of the device, or a combination thereof,

wherein the determining to filter is based, at least in part, on the context information.

13. An apparatus of claim 12, wherein the context information includes a social graph, the method further comprising:

determine the social graph based, at least in part, on the user,

wherein the determining to filter is based, at least in part, on a least a portion of the social graph.

14. An apparatus of claim 13, wherein the apparatus is further caused to:

determine the social graph from one or more social networks, one or more contact lists, a communication history, context information, or a combination thereof.

15. An apparatus of claim 13, wherein the apparatus is further caused to:

determine a hierarchy associated with the social graph,

wherein the determining to filter is further based, at least in part, on the hierarchy.

16. An apparatus of claim 12, wherein the context information includes a location, a time, an activity, or a combination thereof.

17. An apparatus of claim 11, wherein the apparatus is further caused to:

determine relevancy information associated with the context information,

wherein the determining to filter is further based, at least in part, on the relevancy information.

18. An apparatus of claim 11, wherein the one or more programs, the another program, or a combination thereof operate at an application level, a system level, or a combination thereof.

19. An apparatus of claim 11, wherein the apparatus is further caused to:

determine one or more unfiltered results; and

determine to present the one or more results, the one or more unfiltered results, or a combination thereof,

wherein the presentation distinguishes the one or more results from the one or more unfiltered results.

20. An apparatus of claim 11, wherein the content request, the one or more programs, the one or more results, or a combination thereof are represented as one or more computation closures, one or more information closures, or a combination thereof.
