Abstract

Included are embodiments for determining sort order. At least one embodiment of a method includes determining a plurality of search results associated with at least one search criteria. Some embodiments of a method include determining a first distance between at least one of the search results and a home page associated with the at least one search result and determining a display order for the plurality of search results.

Claims

1. A method comprising:

determining a plurality of search results associated with a search criteria;

determining a first number of links on a first search result from among the plurality of search results;

determining a second number of links on a second search result from among the plurality of search results;

determining a first distance between a third search result from among the plurality of search results and a third home page associated with the third search result, wherein the first distance is a first number of web pages between the third home page and the third search result;

determining a second distance between the fourth search result from among the plurality of search results and a fourth home page associated with the fourth search result, wherein the second distance is a second number of web pages between the fourth home page and the fourth search result;

determining a display order for the plurality of search results at least in part by comparing the first number of links to the second number of links and by comparing the first distance to the second distance; and

displaying the plurality of search results in the display order on a user interface.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein displaying the plurality of search results comprises:

displaying the first search result on the user interface;

displaying the first number of links on the user interface proximate to the first search result;

displaying the second search result on the user interface; and

displaying the second number of links on the user interface proximate to the second search result.

3. The method of claim 1, wherein displaying the plurality of search results comprises:

displaying the third search result on the user interface;

displaying the first distance on the user interface proximate to the third search result;

displaying the fourth search result on the user interface; and

displaying the second distance on the user interface proximate to the fourth search result.

4. The method of claim 1, further comprising determining the display order at least in part based on additional criteria.

5. The method of claim 1, further comprising providing an option to view at least one of the plurality of search results.

6. The method of claim 5, further comprising:

detecting a user selection; and

responsive to detecting the user selection,

providing a display that includes at least one of the plurality of search results; and

providing an option to view a home page of the at least one of the plurality of search results.

7. The method of claim 1, wherein the first number of web pages comprises a first average of a first plurality of distances between the third search result and the third home page, wherein each of the first plurality of distances is a number of web pages between the third home page and the third search result;

and

wherein the second number of web pages comprises a second average of a second plurality of distances between the fourth search result and the fourth home page, wherein each of the second plurality of distances is a number of web pages between the fourth home page and the fourth search result.

8. A system comprising:

a memory; and

a processor in communication with the memory, wherein the processor is configured to;

determine a plurality of search results associated with a search criteria;

determine a first number of links on a first search result from among the plurality of search results;

determine a second number of links on a second search result from among the plurality of search results;

determine a first distance between a third search result from among the plurality of search results and a third home page associated with the third search result, wherein the first distance is a first number of web pages between the third home page and the third search result;

determine a second distance between a fourth search result from among the plurality of search results and a fourth home page associated with the fourth search result, wherein the second distance is a second number of web pages between the fourth home page and the fourth search result;

determine a display order for the plurality of search results at least in part by comparing the first number of links to the second number of links and by comparing the first distance to the second distance; and

provide the plurality of search results for display in the display order on a user interface.

9. The system of claim 8, wherein the processor configured to provide the plurality of search results comprises the processor configured to:

provide the first search result for display on the user interface;

provide the first number of links for display on the user interface proximate to the first search result;

provide the second search result for display on the user interface; and

provide the second number of links for display on the user interface proximate to the second search result.

10. The system of claim 8, wherein the processor configured to provide the plurality of search results comprises the processor configured to:

provide the third search result for display on the user interface;

provide the first distance for display on the user interface proximate to the third search result;

provide the fourth search result for display on the user interface; and

provide the second distance for display on the user interface proximate to the fourth search result.

11. The system of claim 8, wherein the processor is further configured to determine the display order at least in part based on additional criteria.

12. The system of claim 8, wherein the processor is further configured to provide an option to view at least one of the plurality of search results.

13. The system of claim 11, wherein the processor is further configured to:

detect a user selection; and

responsive to detecting the user selection,

provide at least one of the plurality of search results for display; and

provide an option to view a home page of the at least one of the plurality of search results.

14. The system of claim 8, wherein the first number of web pages comprises a first average of a first plurality of distances between the third search result and the third home page, wherein each of the first plurality of distances is a number of web pages between the third home page and the third search result;

and

wherein the second number of web pages comprises a second average of a second plurality of distances between the fourth search result and the fourth home page, wherein each of the second plurality of distances is a number of web pages between the fourth home page and the fourth search result.

15. A computer-readable storage medium comprising computer-executable instructions to:

determine a plurality of search results associated with a search criteria;

determine a first number of links on a first search result from among the plurality of search results;

determine a second number of links on a second search result from among the plurality of search results;

determine a first distance between a third search result from among the plurality of search results and a third home page associated with the third search result, wherein the first distance is a first number of web pages between the third home page and the third search result;

determine a second distance between the fourth search result from among the plurality of search results and a fourth home page associated with the fourth search result, wherein the second distance is a second number of web pages between the fourth home page and the fourth search result;

determine a display order for the plurality of search results at least in part by comparing the first number of links to the second number of links and by comparing the first distance to the second distance; and

display the plurality of search results in the display order on a user interface.

16. The computer-readable storage medium of claim 15, further comprising computer-executable instructions to:

provide the first search result for display on the user interface;

provide the first number of links for display on the user interface proximate to the first search result;

provide the second search result for display on the user interface; and

provide the second number of links for display on the user interface proximate to the second search result.

17. The computer-readable storage medium of claim 15, further comprising computer-executable instructions to:

provide the third search result for display on the user interface;

provide the first distance for display on the user interface proximate to the third search result;

provide the fourth search result for display on the user interface; and

provide the second distance for display on the user interface proximate to the fourth search result.

18. The computer-readable storage medium of claim 15, further comprising computer-executable instructions to provide an option to view at least one of the plurality of search results.

19. The computer-readable storage medium of claim 17, further comprising computer-executable instructions to:

detect a user selection; and

responsive to detecting the user selection,

provide at least one of the plurality of search results for display; and

provide an option to view a home page of the at least one of the plurality of search results.

20. The computer-readable storage medium of claim 15, wherein the first number of web pages comprises a first average of a first plurality of distances between the third search result and the third home page, wherein each of the first plurality of distances is a number of web pages between the third home page and the third search result;

and

wherein the second number of web pages comprises a second average of a second plurality of distances between the fourth search result and the fourth home page, wherein each of the second plurality of distances is a number of web pages between the fourth home page and the fourth search result.
