Abstract

An application defined to allow polymorphic serialization. In one embodiment, the application comprises a plurality of page definitions or views. At least one page definition is configured to be serialized into content in a first serialization format and content in a second serialization format that is different from the first serialization.

Claims

1. An apparatus comprising:

a memory comprising a page definition;

wherein the page definition is configured to be serialized into content in a first serialization format and content in a second serialization format;

wherein the first and second serialization formats are distinct from each other.

2. The apparatus of claim 1 wherein the page definition is configured to be serialized after it is merged with data of a logical data model.

3. The apparatus of claim 2 further comprising:

a first circuit for serializing the page definition into content in the first serialization format;

a second circuit for serializing the page definition into content in the second serialization format.

4. The apparatus of claim 3:

wherein the page definition comprises a tag and a tag designation that is one of a first type, a second type or a third type;

wherein the first circuit is configured to process the tag in accordance with a first procedure if the tag designation is the first type;

wherein the first circuit is configured to process the tag in accordance with a second procedure if the tag is designated the second type;

wherein the first circuit is configured to process the tag in accordance with a third procedure if the tag is designated the third type;

wherein each of the first, second, and third procedures are distinct from each other.

5. The apparatus of claim 4:

wherein the second circuit is configured to process the tag in accordance with a fourth procedure if the tag designation is the first type;

wherein the second circuit is configured to process the tag in accordance with a fifth procedure if the tag is designated the second type;

wherein the second circuit is configured to process the tag in accordance with a sixth procedure if the tag is designated the third type;

wherein each of the fourth, fifth, and sixth procedures are distinct from each other.

6. The apparatus of claim 1:

wherein the page definition comprises tags;

wherein each of the tags is designated as one of a first type, second type, or third type.

7. The apparatus of claim 1:

wherein the page definition comprises tags;

wherein each of the tags is a map, an array, or a property.

8. The apparatus of claim 7:

wherein the page definition comprises tag designations that designate the tags, respectively, as either a map, an array, or a property.

9. The apparatus of claim 1 further comprising:

a circuit for generating replies to requests from mobile devices, wherein each of the replies is generated as a function of the page definition;

a first circuit for generating first serialized replies as a function of respective replies generated by the circuit;

a second circuit for generating second serialized replies as a function of respective replies generated by the circuit;

wherein the first serialized replies comprise content that is in a first serialization format;

wherein the second serialized replies comprise content that is in a second serialization format;

wherein the first serialization format is distinct from the second serialization format.

10. The apparatus of claim 1 further comprising

a circuit for generating a first reply to a request from a first mobile device and for generating a second reply to a request from a second mobile device, wherein the first reply is generated as a function of data of a data model and the page definition, and wherein the second reply is generated as a function of data of the data model and the page definition;

a first circuit for generating a first serialized reply as a function of the first reply, wherein the first serialized reply comprises content in a first serialization format;

a second circuit for generating a second serialized reply as a function of the second reply, wherein the second serialized reply comprises content in a second serialization format;

wherein the first and second serialization formats are distinct from each other.

11. A method comprising:

transmitting a page definition to a computer system for storage in memory thereof;

wherein the page definition is configured to be serialized into content in a first serialization format and content in a second serialization format;

wherein the first and second serialization formats are distinct from each other.

12. The method of claim 11 wherein the page definition is configured to be serialized after it is merged with data of a logical data model.

13. The method of claim 11:

wherein the page definition comprises tags;

wherein each of the tags is designated as one of a first type, second type, or third type.

14. The method of claim 11:

wherein the page definition comprises tags;

wherein each of the tags is a map, an array, or a property.

15. The method of claim 14:

wherein the page definition comprises tag designations that designate the tags, respectively, as either a map, an array, or a property.

16. A method comprising:

selecting a tag in a page definition;

determining whether the tag is a first type;

if the tag is determined to be the first type, designating the tag as first type within the page definition;

if the tag is not designated first type, determining whether the tag is a second type;

if the tag is determined to be the second type, designating the tag as second type within the page definition;

if the tag is not designated first or second type, designating the tag as a third type, wherein the first, second, and third types are distinct from each other.

17. The method of claim 16 further comprising:

in response to receiving a first page request from a first device, binding the page definition to data of a logical data model to generate a first reply to the first page request;

serializing the first reply to generate content in a first serialization format;

in response to receiving a second page request from a second device, binding the page definition to data of the logical data model to generate a second reply to the second page request;

serializing the second reply to generate content in a second serialization format;

wherein the first and second serialization formats are different from each other.

18. The method of claim 16 wherein serializing the first reply comprises an act of removing the tag designation from the page definition.

19. The method of claim 16 further comprising:

selecting another tag in the page definition;

determining whether the other tag is the first type of tag;

if the other tag is determined to be the first type, designating the other tag as first type within the page definition;

if the other tag is not designated as first type, determining whether the tag is the second type of tag;

if the other tag is determined to be the second type, designating the other tag as second type within the page definition;

if the other tag is not designated first or second type, designating the other tag as the third type of tag.

20. The method of claim 19 wherein the tag is designated as the first type of tag, and the other tag is designated as the second type of tag.
