Abstract

A wireless power system for powering a television includes a source resonator, configured to generate an oscillating magnetic field, and at least one television component attached to at least one device resonator, wherein the at least one device resonator is configured to wirelessly receive power from the source resonator via the oscillating magnetic field when the distance between the source resonator and the at least one device resonator is more than 5 cm, and wherein at least one television component draws at least 10 Watts of power.

Claims

1. A wireless power system for powering a television, the system comprising:

a source resonator, configured to generate an oscillating magnetic field; and

at least one television component attached to at least one device resonator,

wherein the at least one device resonator is configured to wirelessly receive power from the source resonator via the oscillating magnetic field when the distance between the source resonator and the at least one device resonator is more than 5 cm, and

wherein at least one television component draws at least 10 Watts of power.

2. The system of claim 1 wherein the at least one device resonator also transmits power wirelessly.

3. The system of claim 1 wherein the at least one device resonator also operates as a repeater resonator.

4. The system of claim 1 wherein the at least one device resonator comprises wire.

5. The system of claim 1 wherein the at least one device resonator comprises a trace on a printed circuit board.

6. The system of claim 1 wherein the at least one device resonator comprises Litz wire.

7. The system of claim 1 wherein the at least one device resonator comprises magnetic material.

8. The system of claim 1 wherein the at least one device resonator comprises tiled ferrite blocks.

9. The system of claim 1 wherein the source resonator has a resonant frequency of approximately 6.78 MHz.

10. The system of claim 1 wherein the source resonator has a resonant frequency of approximately 13.56 MHz.

11. The system of claim 1 wherein the source resonator has a resonant frequency of approximately 250 kHz.

12. The system of claim 1 further comprising a control mechanism for controlling the amount of wireless power received by the at least one device resonator.

13. The system of claim 1 further comprising any of an amplifier circuit, a rectifier circuit, a filter circuit, and a feedback circuit.

14. The system of claim 1, wherein the source resonator is positioned behind an item hung on a wall.

15. The system of claim 1, wherein device resonator is capable of receiving power when the source resonator is positioned behind a wall.

16. The system of claim 1, wherein device resonator is capable of receiving power when the source resonator is positioned within a cabinet.

17. The system of claim 1, wherein the source resonator is integrated into another electronic component.

18. The system of claim 1, wherein the source resonator supplies power to at least one additional component.

19. The system of claim 18, wherein the at least one additional component is any of a phone, a game controller, a remote control device, a router, a recorder, a set top box, a wireless charging station, and a computer.

20. The system of claim 1 wherein the device resonator is capable of receiving power when the source resonator and the at least one device resonator are positioned substantially parallel to each other.

21. The system of claim 1 wherein the device resonator is capable of receiving power when the source resonator and the at least one device resonator are positioned substantially perpendicular to each other.

22. The system of claim 1 wherein the device resonator is capable of receiving power when the at least one device resonator is attached to the outside of the at least one television component.

23. The system of claim 1 wherein the at least one device resonator is retrofit to the at least one television component.

24. The system of claim 1 wherein the at least one device resonator is integrated into the at least one television component.

25. The system of claim 1 wherein the at least one device resonator is integrated into the back of the at least one television component.

26. The system of claim 1 wherein the at least one device resonator is integrated into the base of the at least one television component.

27. The system of claim 1 wherein the television also receives information signals wirelessly.

28. A wireless power system for powering an electronic display, the system comprising:

a source resonator, configured to generate an oscillating magnetic field; and

at least one electronic display component attached to at least one device resonator,

wherein the at least one device resonator is configured to wirelessly receive power from the source resonator via the oscillating magnetic field when the distance between the source resonator and the at least one device resonator is more than 2 cm, and

wherein at least one electronic display component draws at least 5 Watts of power.

29. The system of claim 28, wherein a digital picture frame comprises the electronic display.

30. The system of claim 28, wherein a monitor comprises the electronic display.

31. The system of claim 28, wherein a wireless communication device comprises the electronic display.

32. The system of claim 28, wherein a computer comprises the electronic display.

33. The system of claim 28, wherein a smart card comprises the electronic display.

34. The system of claim 28, wherein a navigation device comprises the electronic display.

35. The system of claim 28, wherein an appliance comprises the electronic display.

36. The system of claim 28, wherein an electronic reader comprises the electronic display.

37. The system of claim 28, wherein a sensor comprises the electronic display.

38. The system of claim 28, wherein a mobile device comprises the electronic display.

39. The system of claim 28, wherein the source resonator supplies power to at least one additional component.

40. The system of claim 28 wherein the electronic display also receives information wirelessly.
