Abstract

A medical device system may include a set of housing portions, which includes a first housing portion and a second housing portion, and a third housing portion configured to be selectively operatively engaged with and disengaged from each of the first housing portion and the second housing portion. Each of one or more fluid conduits may provide a fluid path between a user and one or more reservoirs, for containing fluidic media, supported by at least one of the third housing portion and a selected one of the first housing portion and the second housing portion. A drive device supported by the third housing portion may be configured to transfer fluidic media between one of the one or more reservoirs and the user via the fluid conduit in a case where the third housing portion is operatively engaged with one of the first housing portion and the second housing portion.

Claims

1. A medical device system, the system comprising:

a set of housing portions, the set of housing portions comprising a first housing portion and a second housing portion;

a third housing portion configured to be selectively operatively engaged with and disengaged from each of the first housing portion and the second housing portion, at least one of the third housing portion and a selected one of the first housing portion and the second housing portion supporting one or more reservoirs for containing fluidic media;

one or more fluid conduits, each fluid conduit of the one or more fluid conduits for providing a fluid path between a user and a respective reservoir of the one or more reservoirs; and

a drive device supported by the third housing portion, the drive device configured to transfer fluidic media between one of the one or more reservoirs and the user via the fluid conduit in a case where the third housing portion is operatively engaged with one of the first housing portion and the second housing portion.

2. The system of claim 1, wherein the third housing portion is configured to be disengageable from the one of the first housing portion and the second housing portion and engageable with another one of the first housing portion and the second housing portion.

3. The system of claim 1,

wherein, in a case where the first housing portion and the second housing portion support the one or more reservoirs, the drive device is supported by the third housing portion such that upon the third housing portion being operatively engaged with the one of the first housing portion and the second housing portion, the reservoir of the one of the first housing portion and the second housing portion is operatively coupled to the drive device;

and

wherein the drive device is configured to drive fluidic media from the reservoir of the one of the first housing portion and the second housing portion to a user via the fluid conduit in a case where the third housing portion is operatively engaged with the one of the first housing portion and the second housing portion and the reservoir of the one of the first housing portion and the second housing portion is operatively coupled to the drive device.

4. The system of claim 1,

wherein the first housing portion is configured to support a first reservoir of the one or more reservoirs;

and

wherein the second housing portion is configured to support a second reservoir of the one or more reservoirs.

5. The system of claim 4,

wherein the one or more fluid conduits comprises a first fluid conduit and a second fluid conduit;

the first fluid conduit operatively connectable to the first reservoir of the first housing portion to provide a fluid path between the user and the first reservoir;

the second fluid conduit operatively connectable to the second reservoir of the second housing portion to provide a fluid path between the user and second first reservoir.

The medical device system of claim 5, wherein the first fluid conduit and the second fluid conduit are configured to be connectable to a respective injection site module securable on the user, each injection site module having a cannula for providing a fluid path between a selected one of the first reservoir of the first housing portion and the second reservoir of the second housing portion and the user.

The medical device system of claim 5, wherein the first fluid conduit and the second fluid conduit are configured to be connectable to an injection site module securable on the user, the injection site module having a cannula for providing a fluid path between a selected one of the first reservoir of the first housing portion and the second reservoir of the second housing portion and the user.

The system of claim 4, wherein the one or more fluid conduits comprises a fluid conduit, the fluid conduit configured to be selectively operatively connectable to a selected one of the first reservoir of the first housing portion and the second reservoir of the second housing portion to provide a fluid path between the user and the selected one of the first reservoir of the first housing portion and the second reservoir of the second housing portion.

9. The system of claim 8, wherein the fluid conduit is configured to be operatively disconnectable from the selected one of the first reservoir and the second reservoir and operatively connectable with another one of the first reservoir and the second reservoir.

The system of claim 8, wherein the fluid conduit is configured to be connectable to an injection site module securable on the user, the injection site module having a cannula for providing a fluid path between the user and the selected one of the first reservoir of the first housing portion and the second reservoir of the second housing portion.

11. The system of claim 4,

the third housing portion having a fluid conduit configured to be selectively operatively connectable to a selected one of the first reservoir of the first housing portion and the second reservoir of the second housing portion to provide a fluid path between the third housing portion and the selected one of the first reservoir of the first housing portion and the second reservoir of the second housing portion;

wherein the one or more fluid conduits comprises a fluid conduit configured to be operatively connectable to the fluid conduit of the third housing portion to provide a fluid path between the user and the selected one of the first reservoir and the second reservoir.

12. The system of claim 11, wherein the fluid conduit of the third housing portion is configured to be operatively disconnectable from the selected one of the first reservoir and the second reservoir and operatively connectable with another one of the first reservoir and the second reservoir.

13. The system of claim 11, wherein the fluid conduit is configured to be connectable to an injection site module securable on the user, the injection site module having a cannula for providing a fluid path between the selected one of the first reservoir and the second reservoir and the user.

14. The medical device system of claim 1,

wherein the third housing portion is configured to support a reservoir of the one or more reservoirs;

wherein the one or more fluid conduits comprise a first fluid conduit and a second fluid conduit, the first fluid conduit operatively connectable to the first housing portion, the second fluid conduit operatively connectable to the second housing portion;

the third housing portion having a fluid conduit in fluid communication with the reservoir, the fluid conduit configured to be selectively operatively connectable to a selected one of the first fluid conduit of the first housing portion and the second fluid conduit of the second housing portion to provide a fluid path between the user and the reservoir.

The system of claim 14, wherein the fluid conduit of the third housing portion is configured to be operatively disconnectable from the selected one of the first fluid conduit and the second fluid conduit and operatively connectable with another one of the first fluid conduit and the second fluid conduit.

16. The system of claim 14, wherein the first fluid conduit and the second fluid conduit are configured to be connectable to a respective injection site module conduit securable on the user, each injection site module having a cannula for providing a fluid path between the reservoir and the user.

17. The system of claim 14, wherein the first fluid conduit and the second fluid conduit are configured to be connectable to a injection site module conduit securable on the user, the injection site module having a cannula for providing a fluid path between the reservoir and the user.

18. The medical device system of claim 1,

wherein the third housing portion is configured to support a reservoir of the one or more reservoirs;

wherein the one or more fluid conduits comprises a fluid conduit, the fluid conduit configured to be selectively operatively connectable to a selected one of the first housing portion and the second housing portion;

the third housing portion having a fluid conduit in fluid communication with the reservoir, the fluid conduit of the third housing portion configured to be selectively operatively connectable to the selected one of the first housing portion and the second housing portion to provide a fluid path between the user and the reservoir.

19. The system of claim 18, wherein the fluid conduit of the third housing portion is configured to be operatively disconnectable from the selected one of the first housing portion and the second housing portion and operatively connectable with another one of the first housing portion and the second housing portion.

20. The system of claim 18, wherein fluid conduit is configured to be operatively disconnectable from the selected one of the first housing portion and the second housing portion and operatively connectable with another one of the first housing portion and the second housing portion.

21. The system of claim 18, wherein the fluid conduit is configured to be connectable to an injection site module securable on the user, the injection site module having a cannula for providing a fluid path between the user and the reservoir.

22. The medical device system of claim 1,

wherein the third housing portion is configured to support a reservoir of the one or more reservoirs;

and

wherein the one or more fluid conduits comprise a fluid conduit, the fluid conduit operatively connectable to the reservoir of the third housing portion to provide a fluid path between the user and the reservoir.

23. The system of claim 22, wherein the fluid conduit is configured to be connectable to an injection site module securable on the user, the injection site module having a cannula for providing a fluid path between the reservoir and the user.

24. The medical device system of claim 1,

wherein the first housing portion is configured to be securable to the user;

and

wherein the second housing portion is configured for use off the skin of the user.

25. The medical device system of claim 24, the first housing portion configured to be securable to skin of the user.

26. The medical device system of claim 24, the second housing portion configured to be carried by the user.

27. The medical device system of claim 26, the second housing portion configured to be securable to apparel of the user.

28. The medical device system of claim 1, wherein at least one of the one more fluid conduits comprise a tubing structure.

29. A method of making a medical device, the method comprising:

providing a set of housing portions, the set of housing portions comprising a first housing portion and a second housing portion;

configuring a third housing portion configured to be selectively operatively engaged with and disengaged from each of the first housing portion and the second housing portion, at least one of the third housing portion and a selected one of the first housing portion and the second housing portion supporting one or more reservoirs for containing fluidic media;

providing one or more fluid conduits, each fluid conduit of the one or more fluid conduits for providing a fluid path between a user and a respective reservoir of the one or more reservoirs; and

supporting a drive device by the third housing portion, the drive device configured to transfer fluidic media between one of the one or more reservoirs and the user via the fluid conduit in a case where the third housing portion is operatively engaged with one of the first housing portion and the second housing portion.
