Abstract

A multi-chamber injection and treatment system includes a first chamber, a second chamber, a mixing element, and a needle portion. The first chamber is generally adapted to receive and advance various cells, while the second chamber is adapted to receive and advance adipose tissue, and can blend or reduce the size of the adipose tissue. The mixing element combines the constituents of the chambers and is in communication with the needle portion for driving the cellular mixture into a target tissue site, such as the mid-corpora of the male penis.

Claims

1. A multi-chamber mixing and injection system, comprising:

a first chamber adapted to receive cells;

a second chamber adapted to receive adipose tissue;

a tissue reduction element in fluid communication with the second chamber to reduce the size of the adipose tissue;

a mixing element in fluid communication with the first chamber and the second chamber to blend the cells of the first chamber and the reduced adipose tissue into a cellular mixture; and

an injection element in fluid communication with the mixing element.

2. The system of claim 1, further comprising a filter element adapted to receive the reduced adipose tissue for filtering adipose tissue of a predetermined size.

3. The system of claim 2 wherein the filter element excludes reduced adipose tissue particles greater than about 1 mm in size.

4. The system of claim 1 wherein the injection element is a needle.

5. The system of claim 4 wherein the needle is of a predetermined length to promote insertion into the mid-corpora of a male penis.

6. The system of claim 5, further comprising an adjustable stop element operably coupled to the needle for adjusting an insertion length of the needle.

7. The system of claim 1 wherein the tissue reduction element comprises a plurality of rotating blades structured to reduce the size of the adipose tissue.

8. The system of claim 1 wherein the tissue reduction element comprises a blade assembly that is structured to be driven along a plurality of threads within the second chamber to reduce the size of the adipose tissue.

9. The system of claim 8 wherein the blade assembly is operably coupled to a distal end of a rotatable drive shaft.

10. The system of claim 9 wherein a proximal end of the drive shaft is operably coupled to a drive motor for rotating the drive shaft.

11. The system of claim 9 wherein a proximal end of the drive shaft is operably coupled to a handle member structured for manual rotation of the drive shaft.

12. The system of claim 1, further comprising a first plunger device for advancing the cells through the first chamber and a second plunger device for advancing the adipose tissue through the second chamber.

13. The system of claim 12 wherein the first and second plunger devices are independently operable.

14. The system of claim 12 wherein the first and second plunger devices are coupled together and are operable to advance the cells and the adipose tissue simultaneously.

15. The system of claim 12 wherein the tissue reduction element comprises a plurality of protruding punch elements on a distal end of the second plunger device that are structured to be received within a plurality of corresponding holes in a filter element for reducing the size of the adipose tissue.

16. The system of claim 1 wherein the mixing element comprises a rotatable propeller member for blending the cells and the reduced adipose tissue.

17. The system of claim 1 wherein the mixing element comprises a rotatable paddle member for blending the cells and the reduced adipose tissue.

18. The system of claim 1 wherein the mixing element comprises a first spray nozzle for creating a stream of cells and a second spray nozzle for creating a stream of reduced adipose tissue.

43. The system of claim 11 wherein the tissue reduction element is configured to mechanically grind or digest the adipose tissue.

20. A method of treating a target tissue site with a cellular mixture blended in a multi-chamber system, comprising:

providing a first chamber adapted to receive cells and a second chamber adapted to receive adipose tissue;

providing a tissue reduction element in fluid communication with the second chamber to reduce the size of the adipose tissue; and

mixing the cells from the first chamber with the reduced adipose tissue at a mixing element.
