Abstract

A system for delivering user specific data comprises a web browser, an application server, and a content server. The browser receives an identification associated with a user profile and transmits a login message to the application server. The application server receives the login message, determines the profile associated with the login message and the feeds or searches associated with the determined profile. Next, the application server queries the content server for data associated with the profile'"'"'s feeds and searches. The application server determines from the retrieved data the data that has not been previously transmitted to the browser in connection with the profile. The application server then transmits the determined data to the browser and the browser communicates the data to a user associated with the profile.

Claims

1. A computer-implemented method for delivering feed content to a user of a browser, the method comprising:

accessing a profile associated with the browser used to access feed content, wherein the profile identifies a plurality of feeds to which the profile has subscribed;

determining that one or more of the feeds from the plurality of feeds contain one or more feed items that have not been delivered in connection with the profile;

identifying the one or more feed items that have not been delivered in connection with the profile; and

transmitting the identified feed items to the browser associated with the profile.

2. The computer-implemented method of claim 1, wherein the undelivered one or more feed items is determined based on a timestamp associated with the undelivered one or more feed items.

3. The computer-implemented method of claim 1, wherein the undelivered one or more feed items is determined based on content of the undelivered one or more feed items.

4. The computer-implemented method of claim 1, wherein the undelivered one or more feed items is determined based on a unique identifier assigned to the undelivered one or more feed items.

5. The computer-implemented method of claim 1, wherein identifying the one or more feed items comprises:

retrieving data from the feed;

determining previously delivered feed items from the feed in connection with the profile; and

determining the one or more undelivered feed items from the retrieved data based on the previously delivered feed items.

6. The computer-implemented method of claim 1, further comprising:

adjusting a wait period based on the transmitted one or more feed items;

identifying an additional feed item in connection with the profile; and

transmitting the additional feed item to the browser associated with the profile, wherein the transmission of the one or more feed items and the additional feed item are separated by at least the adjusted wait period.

7. A computer-implemented method for delivering search content to a user, the method comprising:

accessing a profile associated with a browser used to access search results, wherein the profile identifies a plurality of search terms associated with the profile;

determining that one or more search results form a search based on the search terms that have not been delivered in connection with the profile;

identifying the one or more search results that have not been delivered in connection with the profile; and

transmitting the identified one or more search results to the browser associated with the profile.

8. The computer-implemented method of claim 7, wherein the undelivered one or more search results is determined based on content of the undelivered one or more search results.

9. The computer-implemented method of claim 7, wherein identifying the one or more search results comprises:

retrieving search results for the search performed based on the search terms;

determining previously delivered search results based on the search terms in connection with the profile; and

determining the one or more search results from the retrieved search results based on the previously delivered search results.

10. The computer-implemented method of claim 7, further comprising:

adjusting a wait period based on the transmitted one or more search results;

identifying an additional search result in connection with the profile; and

transmitting the additional search result to the browser associated with the profile, wherein the transmission of the one or search results and the additional search result are separated by at least the adjusted wait period.

11. A computer-implemented method for delivering undelivered content for one or more profiles, the method comprising:

determining a feed associated with a browser used to access feed content;

determining one or more data items associated with the feed, the one or more data items not previously delivered to the browser; and

transmitting the one or more data items to the browser.

12. The computer-implemented method of claim 11, wherein the undelivered one or more data item is determined based on a timestamp associated with the undelivered one or more data item.

13. The computer-implemented method of claim 11, wherein the undelivered one or more data item is determined based on content of the undelivered one or more data item.

14. The computer-implemented method of claim 11, wherein the undelivered one or more data items is determined based on a unique identifier assigned to the undelivered one or more data items.

15. The computer-implemented method of claim 11, wherein determining the one or more data item comprises:

retrieving data from the feed;

determining previous data delivered from the feed to the browser; and

determining the one or more undelivered data item from the retrieved data based on the previously delivered data.

16. The computer-implemented method of claim 11, further comprising:

adjusting a wait period based on the transmitted one or more data item;

identifying an additional data item to be delivered from the feed to the browser; and

transmitting the additional data item to the browser, wherein the transmission of the one or more data item and the additional data item are separated by at least the adjusted wait period.

17. A computer program product for delivering undelivered content for one or more profiles, the computer program product comprising a computer-readable storage medium containing computer program code for:

transmitting a login signal indicating a user has logged into a browser, the browser associated with a feed;

receiving, at the browser, an undelivered data item associated with the feed, the undelivered data item not previously received by the browser; and

communicating the received data item to the user.

18. The computer program product of claim 17, further comprising computer program code for:

transmitting a data communicated message indicating that the received undelivered data item has been communicated to the user.

19. The computer program product of claim 17, wherein the undelivered data item is determined based on a timestamp associated with the undelivered data item.

20. The computer program product of claim 17, wherein the undelivered data item is determined based on content of the undelivered data item.

21. The computer program product of claim 17, further comprising computer program code for:

receiving an additional data item after receiving the data item, the reception of the data item and the additional data item is separated by at least a wait period, the wait period adjusted base on reception of the data item.
