Abstract

The invention relates to a system for transmitting power inductively from a transmitter (11) to a receiver (10), the receiver (10) comprising a signal generator for generating a signal, triggered by an event reflecting that the receiver intends to receive power from the transmitter, wherein said signal intends to activate said transmitter from standby mode to activated mode; and comprising a signal transmitting coil (103) for transmitting said signal to said transmitter; said transmitter (11) comprising a signal receiving coil (112); a detector (114) for detecting said signal received by the receiving coil; and a unit (115) for activating the transmitter from standby mode to activated mode upon the detection of said signal.

Claims

1. A transmitter for transmitting electric power to a receiver inductively, comprising:

a signal receiving coil or receiving a signal for activating said transmitter from standby mode to activated mode;

a detector for detecting said signal received by said signal receiving coil;

a unit for activating the transmitter from a standby mode to an activated mode upon the detection of said signal.

2. The transmitter as claimed in claim 1, further comprising a primary coil for transmitting power, wherein said primary coil is used as said signal receiving coil.

3. A receiver for receiving electric power from a transmitter inductively, said receiver comprising:

a signal generator for generating a signal, triggered by an event reflecting that the receiver intends to receive power from the transmitter, wherein said signal intends to activate said transmitter from a standby mode to an activated mode; and

a signal transmitting coil for transmitting said signal to said transmitter.

4. The receiver as claimed in claim 3, wherein said signal generator comprises at least one of the sources for providing electrical energy:

a battery;

an energy converter for converting mechanical energy to electrical energy.

5. The receiver as claimed in claim 4, wherein said energy converter comprises a piezoelectric element or a magnetic element.

6. The receiver as claimed in claim 4, wherein said signal generator further comprises a unit (105) for modulating said electrical energy to said signal.

7. The receiver as claimed in claim 3, wherein said receiver comprises a secondary coil for receiving power from said transmitter, and wherein said secondary coil is used as said signal transmitting coil.

8. A system for transmitting power inductively from a transmitter to a receiver, said receiver comprising:

a signal generator for generating a signal, triggered by an event reflecting that the receiver intends to receive power from the transmitter, wherein said signal intends to activate said transmitter from a standby mode to an activated mode; and

a signal transmitting coil for transmitting said signal to said transmitter;

said transmitter comprising;

a signal receiving coil for receiving a signal for activating said transmitter from the standby mode to the activated mode;

a detector for detecting said signal received by the receiving coil; and

a unit for activating the transmitter from the standby mode to the activated mode upon the detection of said signal.

9. A method of transmitting power inductively from a transmitter to a receiver, said transmitter comprising a signal receiving coil, and said method comprising:

detecting by said transmitter, a signal received by said signal receiving coil;

activating the transmitter from a standby mode to an activated mode upon the detection of said signal.

10. The method as claimed in claim 9, wherein said transmitter comprises a primary coil for transmitting power, and wherein said primary coil is used as said signal receiving coil.

11. A method of transmitting electric power inductively from a transmitter to a receiver, said receiver comprising a signal transmitting coil and a signal generator, said method comprising:

generating a signal by said signal generator, triggered by an event reflecting that the receiver intends to receive power from the transmitter, wherein said signal intends to activate said transmitter from a standby mode to an activated mode;

transmitting said signal to said transmitter by said signal transmitting coil.

12. The method as claimed in claim 11, wherein said generating further comprises:

providing electrical energy,

modulating said electrical energy to said signal.

13. The method as claimed in claim 11, said receiver comprises a secondary coil for receiving electric power from said transmitter, and wherein said secondary coil is used as said signal transmitting coil.

14. A method of transmitting electric power inductively from a transmitter to a receiver, said receiver comprising a signal transmitting coil and a signal generator, and said transmitter comprising a signal receiving coil, the method comprising:

generating a signal by said signal generator, triggered by an event reflecting that the receiver intends to receive power from the transmitter, wherein said signal intends to activate said transmitter from a standby mode to an activated mode;

transmitting said signal to said transmitter by said signal transmitting coil;

detecting, by said transmitter, said signal received by said signal receiving coil;

activating (201) the transmitter from standby mode to activated mode upon the detection of said voltage.
