Abstract

A small handheld device may perform multiple functions, including those of a camera, a display, a processor, and a radio. In various embodiments, the device may receive information representing a bar code through the radio, and either display the bar code or wirelessly retransmit it to another device. The bar code may represent various things, such as but not limited to a coupon, an admission ticket, a verification of a prior purchase, and/or other evidence of commerce.

Claims

1. A method, comprising:

wirelessly receiving data from a second device, the data describing contents of a bar code; and

performing an operation selected from a list of operations consisting of;

1) presenting a display showing an image of the bar code; and

2) wirelessly transmitting the data to a third device.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein the bar code is to represent at least one item selected from a list consisting of:

1) a discount coupon for a purchase;

2) an admission ticket to an event; and

3) a verification of a prior purchase.

3. An article comprising

a computer-readable storage medium that contains instructions, which when executed by one or more processors result in performing operations comprising:

wirelessly receiving data from a second device, the data describing contents of a bar code; and

performing an operation selected from a list of operations consisting of;

1) presenting a display showing an image of the bar code; and

2) wirelessly transmitting the data to a third device.

4. The article of claim 3, wherein the bar code is to represent at least one item selected from a list consisting of:

1) a discount coupon for a purchase;

2) an admission ticket to an event; and

3) a verification of a prior purchase.
