Abstract

A method for providing wireless communication services via efficient management of frequency bands includes transmitting uplink communications to a first system on a first frequency. The method also includes receiving downlink communications from the first system on a second frequency. The method may also include transmitting uplink communications to a second system by re-using the second frequency. The method further includes receiving downlink communications from the second system by re-using the first frequency.

Claims

1. A method of wireless communication, comprising:

transmitting uplink communications to a first system on a first frequency;

receiving downlink communications from the first system on a second frequency;

transmitting uplink communications to a second system by re-using the second frequency; and

receiving downlink communications from the second system by re-using the first frequency.

2. The method of claim 1, in which receiving downlink communications from the first system occurs simultaneously with transmitting uplink communications to the second system;

and

in which transmitting uplink communications to the second system occurs simultaneously with receiving downlink communications from the second system.

3. A method for wireless communication, comprising:

reusing a downlink frequency from a first system as an uplink frequency for a second system; and

reusing a downlink frequency from the second system as an uplink frequency for the first system.

4. The method of claim 3, in which the downlink frequency and uplink frequency are below 3 GHz.

5. The method of claim 3, in which the downlink frequency and uplink frequency are above 3 GHz.

6. An apparatus for wireless communication, the apparatus comprising:

a transmit unit operable to transmit uplink communications to a first system on a first frequency and to transmit uplink communications to a second system by re-using a second frequency; and

a receiver unit operable to receive downlink communications from the first system on the second frequency and to receive downlink communications from the second system by re-using the first frequency.

7. The apparatus of claim 6, in which the transmit unit is operable to transmit uplink communications on the first frequency substantially simultaneously with the receiver unit receiving downlink communications on the first frequency.

8. The apparatus of claim 6, in which the first and second frequencies are below 3 GHz.

9. The apparatus of claim 6, in which the first and second frequencies are above 3 GHz.

10. An apparatus for wireless communication, the apparatus comprising:

a memory; and

at least one processor coupled to the memory, the at least one processor being configured;

to reuse a downlink frequency from a first system as an uplink frequency for a second system; and

to reuse a downlink frequency from the second system as an uplink frequency for the first system.

11. The apparatus of claim 10, in which the at least one processor is further configured to transmit uplink communications on the first frequency substantially simultaneously with the at least one processor receiving downlink communications on the first frequency.

12. The apparatus of claim 10, in which the downlink frequency and uplink frequency are below 3 GHz.

13. The apparatus of claim 10, in which the downlink frequency and uplink frequency are above 3 GHz.

14. A apparatus for wireless communication, the apparatus comprising:

means for reusing a downlink frequency from a first system as an uplink frequency for a second system; and

means for reusing a downlink frequency from the second system as an uplink frequency for the first system.

15. The apparatus of claim 14, in which the downlink frequency and uplink frequency are below 3 GHz.

16. The apparatus of claim 14, in which the downlink frequency and uplink frequency are above 3 GHz.

17. A computer program product configured for wireless communication, the computer program product comprising:

a non-transitory computer-readable medium having non-transitory program code recorded thereon, the program code comprising;

program code to transmit uplink communications to a first system on a first frequency;

program code to receive downlink communications from the first system on a second frequency;

program code to receive downlink communications from the second system by re-using the first frequency; and

program code to transmit uplink communications to the second system by re-using the second frequency.

18. The computer program product of claim 17, in which the program code to receive downlink communications from the first system is executed simultaneously with the program code to transmit uplink communications to the second system and the program code to transmit uplink communications to the second system is executed simultaneously with the program code to receive downlink communications from the second system.
