Abstract

A prophylactic antiallergenic composition includes at least one arabinogalactan or arabinogalactan protein. The arabinogalactan or arabinogalactan protein is isolated from a grass or corresponds in its structural arrangement to an arabinogalactan that can be isolated from a grass.

Claims

1. A prophylactic antiallergenic composition, comprising at least one arabinogalactan or arabinogalactan protein, wherein at least one arabinogalactan or arabinogalactan protein is isolated from at least one grass or corresponds in its structural arrangement an arabinogalactan isolatable from at least one grass.

The composition according to claim 1, wherein the composition comprises (a) the at least one arabinogalactan or arabinogalactan protein and at least one further active ingredient selected from the group of (b) naturally occurring, isolated bacteria of the genus Lactococcus or fragments thereof and/or (c) humic acid.

The composition according to claim 1, wherein the at least one grass is selected from the group of Meadow Foxtail (Alopecurus pratensis), timothy grass and timothy grass pollen (Phleum pratense L), Cock'"'"'s Foot (Dactyhs glomerata), Yorkshire Fog (Holcus lannatus), English Raygrass (Lolium perenne), Smooth Meadow grass (Poa pratense), Rye (Secale cereale) or grasses from related species or a mixture thereof

5. The composition according to claim 1, comprising an arabinogalactan of the structure shown in FIG. 1.

6. The composition according to claim 2, wherein the bacteria are selected from Lactococcus lactis.

The composition according to claim 2, wherein the composition is a pharmaceutical composition in form of an aerosol, aqueous solution, suspension, lyophilisate, powder, tablet or suppository for oral, nasal, conjunctival, inhalative, subcutaneous, intra-articular, intraperitoneal, rectal or vaginal application.

11. An indoor product, comprising the composition according to claim 1, wherein the composition is in a form suitable to be distributed in the indoor air.

12. The indoor air product according to claim 11, wherein at least one arabinogalactan or arabinogalactan protein and any additional active ingredients are dispersed or dissolved in a solvent

13. The indoor air product according to claim 11, wherein the composition comprises the functional ingredients in the form of a stable dust extract, a hay extract, or a grass extract, or a mixture thereof

14. The indoor air product according to claim 1, wherein the composition additionally comprises one or more adjuvants selected from the group of finely divided excipients, propellants, and surface-active agents, or a mixture thereof

15. The indoor air product according to claim 11, wherein the amount of functional ingredients in the composition is in the range of 0.001 to 20 mg/ml.

16. The indoor air product according to claim 11, additionally comprising (1) a container for storing the composition and (2) a dispenser for distributing the composition in the indoor air.

19. A method of generating a health-improving indoor air, comprising the step of distributing the indoor air product according to claim 11 in form of a plurality of spray droplets or particles in the indoor air.

20. The indoor air product according to claim 12, wherein the solvent is water.

21. The indoor air product according to claim 12, wherein the solvent is isotonic saline.

22. The indoor product according to claim 14, wherein the excipients are solid excipients.

23. The indoor air product according to claim 16, wherein the dispenser distributes the composition in the indoor air in the form of a plurality of spray droplets or finely divided particles.

24. The indoor air product according to claim 23, wherein the spray droplets or particles have a diameter in the range of from 1 to 500 μ

m.

25. The indoor air product according to claim 16, wherein the dispenser is selected from the group consisting of foggers, nebulizers, or sprayers.

26. A method of reducing a likelihood of, protecting against or treating allergic or chronical inflammatory diseases, comprising:

administering the composition of claim 1 into a mammal that is in need of such reduction, protection or treatment,

wherein the allergic or chronical inflammatory diseases are selected from the group consisting of IgE-depending Type I allergic diseases or Type IV allergic diseases, chronical inflammatory skin diseases, and autoimmune diseases.

27. The method according to claim 26, wherein the method is configured to reduce a likelihood of, protect against or treat one or more selected from the group consisting of hay fever, food allergy, asthma, urticaria, neurodermitis, atopic dermatitis, contact eczema, psoriasis, diabetes type 1 or 2, multiple sclerosis, rheumatoid arthritis, and a disease of the thyroid gland.

28. The method according to claim 27, wherein the disease of the thyroid gland is selected from the group consisting of Hashimoto Thyreoditis and Graves disease.

29. The method according to 26, wherein the method is suitable for application for infants (babies) or pregnants, which due to a positive family anamnesis have an increased risk to develop any allergic or chronical inflammatory disease or which show first signs of such a disease.
