Abstract

In an embodiment, a flick motion is detected on a touch screen interface of a first device. In response to detecting the flick motion: data associated with the flick motion is identified and transmitted to a second device. The data may be automatically displayed in response to detecting the flick motion.

Claims

1. A method, comprising:

detecting a flick motion on a touch screen interface of a first device;

in response to detecting the flick motion;

identifying, on the first device, data associated with the flick motion; and

transmitting the data from the first device to a second device.

2. The method as recited in claim 1, further comprising:

selecting the second device from a plurality of devices based on a direction of the flick motion.

3. The method as recited in claim 1, further comprising:

selecting the second device from a plurality of devices based on detecting that the flick motion was in a direction of a visual representation of the second device on the touch screen interface;

wherein during the flick motion, a user performing the flick motion does not touch the visual representation of the second device on the touch screen interface.

4. The method as recited in claim 1, further comprising:

selecting an action to be performed by the second device based on a direction of the flick motion.

5. The method as recited in claim 1, further comprising:

in response to detecting the flick motion, causing display of content on the second device;

wherein the content is included in the data.

6. The method as recited in claim 1, further comprising:

in response to detecting the flick motion, causing display of content on the second device;

wherein the data includes a reference to the content; and

wherein the second device obtains the content based on the reference to the content.

7. The method as recited in claim 1, wherein detecting the flick motion comprises:

detecting an initial user touch on a visual representation of the data displayed on the touch screen interface;

detecting a movement of the user touch along the touch screen interface away from a location of the initial user touch;

while the movement is being detected, detecting a release of the user touch.

8. The method as recited in claim 1, further comprising:

subsequent to transmitting the data to the second device and subsequent to the second device displaying content comprised in the data or referred to by the data;

receiving input on the first device associated with a playback operation of the content;

transmitting a command from the first device to the second device based on the playback operation;

wherein the second device performs the playback operation.

9. The method as recited in claim 1, further comprising:

in response to detecting the flick motion transmitting the content to a plurality of devices.

10. The method as recited in claim 9, wherein the plurality of devices are selected based on a group of users associated with the plurality of devices, wherein the group of users includes a particular user associated with the first device.

11. The method as recited in claim 9, wherein the plurality of devices are selected in response to detecting the plurality of devices within a same sub-network as the first device.

12. The method as recited in claim 9, further comprising:

filtering a plurality of users, based on the data, to obtain a subset of users;

selecting each device of the plurality of devices based on an association with at least one user of the subset of users.

13. A method comprising:

detecting a first flick motion on a first touch screen interface of a first device;

in response to detecting the first flick motion, causing display of at least a portion of first content associated with the first flick motion on a shared display device;

subsequent to detecting a first flick motion, detecting a second flick motion on a second touch screen interface of a second device;

in response to detecting the second flick motion, causing display of second content, associated with the second flick motion, on the shared display device, the display of the second content being subsequent to the display of at least the portion of the first content.

14. The method as recited in claim 13, further comprising:

for each content of a plurality of content, queuing that content for display on the shared display device at a position in a queue that is based on a time corresponding to detection of a flick motion associated with that content.

15. The method as recited in claim 13, further comprising:

for each content in a plurality of content, queuing that content for display on a shared display device in response to detecting a flick motion associated with that content, that content being queued at a queue position based on a priority level associated with that content.

16. A non-transitory computer readable storage medium comprising a sequence of instructions, which when executed by one or more processors, cause performing steps comprising:

detecting a flick motion on a touch screen interface of a first device;

in response to detecting the flick motion;

identifying, on the first device, data associated with the flick motion; and

transmitting the data from the first device to a second device.

17. The computer readable storage medium as recited in claim 16, the steps further comprising:

selecting the second device from a plurality of devices based on a direction of the flick motion.

18. The computer readable storage medium as recited in claim 16, the steps further comprising:

selecting the second device from a plurality of devices in response to detecting that the flick motion was directed toward a visual representation of the second device on the touch screen interface.

19. The computer readable storage medium as recited in claim 16, the steps further comprising:

selecting an action to be performed by the second device based on a direction of the flick motion.

20. The computer readable storage medium as recited in claim 16, wherein the second device comprises a display device configured to display content included in the data.

21. The computer readable storage medium as recited in claim 16, wherein the second device comprises a display device configured to display content referred to in the data.

22. The computer readable storage medium as recited in claim 16, the steps further comprising:

subsequent to transmitting the data to the second device, receiving input on the first device associated with playback of content comprised in the data or referred to by the data;

transmitting a playback command from the first device to the second device based on the input.

23. The computer readable storage medium as recited in claim 16, wherein the second device is configured to store the data that was transmitted in response to detecting the flick motion.

24. The computer readable storage medium as recited in claim 16, the steps further comprising:

in response to detecting the flick motion transmitting the content to a plurality of devices.

25. The computer readable storage medium as recited in claim 24, wherein the plurality of devices are selected based on a group of users associated with the plurality of devices, wherein the group of users includes a particular user associated with the first device.

26. The computer readable storage medium as recited in claim 24, wherein the plurality of devices are selected in response to detecting the plurality of devices within a same sub-network as the first device.

27. The computer readable storage medium as recited in claim 24, the steps further comprising:

filtering a plurality of users, based on the data, to obtain a subset of users;

selecting each device of the plurality of devices based on an association with at least one of the subset of users.

28. A non-transitory computer readable storage medium comprising a sequence of instructions, which when executed by one or more processors, cause performing steps comprising:

detecting a first flick motion on a first touch screen interface of a first device;

in response to detecting the first flick motion, causing display of at least a portion of first content associated with the first flick motion on a shared display device;

subsequent to detecting a first flick motion, detecting a second flick motion on a second touch screen interface of a second device;

in response to detecting the second flick motion, causing display of second content, associated with the second flick motion, on the shared display device, the display of the second content being subsequent to the display of at least the portion of the first content.

29. The computer readable storage medium as recited in claim 28, the steps further comprising:

for each content of a plurality of content, queuing that content for display on a shared display device based on a time corresponding to detection of a flick motion associated with that content.

30. The computer readable storage medium as recited in claim 28, the steps further comprising:

for each content in a plurality of content, queuing that content for display on a shared display device in response to detecting a flick motion associated with that content, that content being queued at a queue position based on a priority level associated with that content.

31. An apparatus comprising:

one or more processors;

a computer readable medium, which when executed by the one or more processors is configured to perform steps comprising;

detecting a flick motion on a touch screen interface of a first device;

in response to detecting the flick motion;

identifying, on the first device, data associated with the flick motion; and

transmitting the data from the first device to a second device.

32. The apparatus as recited in claim 31, the steps further comprising:

selecting the second device from a plurality of devices based on a direction of the flick motion.

33. The apparatus as recited in claim 31, the steps further comprising:

selecting the second device from a plurality of devices in response to detecting that the flick motion was directed toward a visual representation of the second device on the touch screen interface.

34. The apparatus as recited in claim 31, the steps further comprising:

selecting an action to be performed by the second device based on a direction of the flick motion.

35. The apparatus as recited in claim 31, wherein the second device comprises a display device configured to display content comprised in the data.

36. The apparatus as recited in claim 31, wherein the second device comprises a display device configured to display content referred to in the data.

37. The apparatus as recited in claim 31, the steps further comprising:

subsequent to transmitting the data to the second device, receiving input on the first device associated with playback of content included in the data or referred to by the data;

transmitting a playback command from the first device to the second device based on the input.

38. The apparatus as recited in claim 31, wherein the second device is configured to store the data that was transmitted in response to detecting the flick motion.

39. The apparatus as recited in claim 31, the steps further comprising:

in response to detecting the flick motion transmitting the content to a plurality of devices.

40. The apparatus as recited in claim 39, wherein the plurality of devices are selected based on a group of users associated with the plurality of devices, wherein the group of users includes a particular user associated with the first device.

41. The apparatus as recited in claim 39, wherein the plurality of devices are selected in response to detecting the plurality of devices within a same sub-network as the first device.

42. The apparatus as recited in claim 39, the steps further comprising:

filtering a plurality of users, based on the data, to obtain a subset of users;

selecting each device of the plurality of devices based on an association with at least one of the subset of users.

43. An apparatus comprising one or more processors and configured to perform steps comprising:

detecting a first flick motion on a first touch screen interface of a first device;

in response to detecting the first flick motion, causing display of at least a portion of first content associated with the first flick motion on a shared display device;

subsequent to detecting a first flick motion, detecting a second flick motion on a second touch screen interface of a second device;

in response to detecting the second flick motion, causing display of second content, associated with the second flick motion, on the shared display device, the display of the second content being subsequent to the display of at least the portion of the first content.

44. The apparatus as recited in claim 43, the steps further comprising:

for each content of a plurality of content, queuing that content for display on a shared display device based on a time corresponding to detection of a flick motion associated with that content.

45. The apparatus as recited in claim 43, the steps further comprising:

for each content in a plurality of content, queuing that content for display on a shared display device in response to detecting a flick motion associated with that content, that content being queued at a queue position based on a priority level associated with that content.
