- determining the current charge remaining in a battery pack and measuring the current rate of power consumption for an implantable device;
determining the remaining time before the energy level of the battery pack is below a predetermined threshold level at the measured rate of power consumption; and
communicating the remaining time before exhaustion of the battery pack to a user.
