Abstract

An intravascular snare device for use in capturing debris found in blood vessels. The snare device is fabricated from a tube and includes longitudinally and circumferentially extending members. The snare device specifically embodies structure that provides enhanced radial opening and angular resistance to collapse.

54. A snare device for use in vasculature comprising:

an elongate member having a first end and a second end, said first end extending exterior of the vasculature; and

a body associated with the elongate member, the body configured to engage or capture material found in the vasculature, the body having a first end and a second end, wherein the body comprises of a monolithic structure forming a plurality of thin struts.

55. The snare of claim 54 wherein the monolithic structure has a collapsed configuration and an expanded configuration and in the expanded configuration the monolithic structure comprising at least partially a tubular section.

56. The snare of claim 54 wherein the first end of the body is attached to the second end of the elongate member.

57. The snare of claim 54 wherein the snare device is adapted to retrieve a clot in the vasculature.

58. The snare of claim 54 wherein the material for which the device is configured to engage or capture is a thrombus.

59. The snare of claim 54 wherein the monolithic structure is manufactured from a tubular member.

60. The snare of claim 54 wherein the monolithic structure has an unrolled state.

61. The snare of claim 54 wherein the second end of said body comprises a generally closed terminal end.

62. The snare of claim 54 wherein the body is radially expandable.

63. The snare of claim 61 wherein the first end of the body is opened.

64. The snare of claim 54 wherein the body further includes a plurality of openings bounded by the struts.
