Abstract

Systems, methods, and computer storage media having computer-executable instructions embodied thereon that facilitates the presentation of list previews among search results are provided. Upon referencing a user query that indicates a user intent to view a list, a search result within a search results page is presented that includes a list preview. Such a list preview includes at least a portion of a list within a webpage that corresponds with the search results.

Claims

1. One or more computer storage media having computer-executable instructions embodied thereon for performing a method that provides list previews among search results, the method comprising:

referencing a user query that indicates a user intent to view a list; and

in response to the user query, presenting at least one search result within a set of search results that includes a list preview comprising at least a portion of a particular list within a webpage associated with the search result.

2. The media of claim 1, wherein the particular list comprises a collection of items related to a particular subject matter.

3. The media of claim 1, wherein one or more terms of the user query, the sequence of the one or more terms of the user query, or a combination thereof is utilized to determine the user intent to view the list.

4. The media of claim 1 further comprising referencing the set of search results related to the user query.

5. The media of claim 4 further comprising analyzing the webpage associated with the search result to identify a plurality of lists within the webpage.

6. The media of claim 5 further comprising determining that the particular list with the webpage is most relevant among the plurality of lists within the webpage.

7. The media of claim 6, wherein relevancy is based on relevance to the user query or to webpage content.

8. The media of claim 1 further comprising selecting the at least the portion of the particular list within the webpage associated with the search result to generate the list preview.

9. A computerized method that provides list previews among search results, the method comprising:

receiving a user query that indicates a user intent to view a list;

identifying at least one list contained within a webpage associated with a search result relevant to the user query;

selecting a set of items from one of the at least one list contained within the webpage; and

presenting the selected set of items as a list preview in association with the search result relevant to the user query, the list preview providing a representation of a plurality of items included within the one of the at least one list contained within the webpage.

10. The computerized method of claim 9 further comprising identifying a plurality of search results relevant to the user query.

11. The computerized method of claim 9 further comprising determining the one of the at least one list contained within the webpage that is most relevant to the user query or to content of the webpage.

12. The computerized method of claim 9 further comprising determining that the one of the at least one list contained within the webpage exceeds a minimum level of relevance to the user query or to content of the webpage.

13. The computerized method of claim 9 further comprising determining one or more list attributes that provide details regarding the one of the at least one list contained within the webpage or one or more list preview attributes that provide details regarding the list preview.

14. The computerized method of claim 9 further comprising presenting the one or more list attributes or the one or more list preview attributes in association with the list preview.

15. The computerized method of claim 9, wherein the selected set of items is displayed integrated with the search result or near the search result.

16. A graphical user interface embodied on one or more computer-readable media and executable on a computer, the graphical user interface comprising:

a first display area configured for displaying a search result presented on a search results page in response to a search query, the search result being associated with a webpage having a list of items; and

a second display area positioned near the first display area on the search results page, the second display area configured for displaying a list preview that includes at least a portion of the items of the list within the webpage.

17. The graphical user interface of claim 16 further comprising a third display area configured for displaying one or more list attributes that provides a characteristic of the list.

18. The graphical user interface of claim 16 further comprising a third display area configured for displaying one or more list preview attributes that provides a characteristic of the list preview.

19. The graphical user interface of claim 16 further comprising a third display area configured for displaying a more indicator that, if selected, results in presentation of additional items from the list of items not included within the list preview.

20. The graphical user interface of claim 16, wherein the second display area is integrated with the first display area.
