1. A method for calibrating a continuous glucose monitoring system, comprising:
- positioning at least a portion of an electrochemical glucose sensor in a body of a user;
obtaining a signal from the electrochemical glucose sensor;
determining, using a processor, a rate of change of the obtained signal; and
determining, using the processor, whether calibration is appropriate based on the determined rate of change.
