Abstract

Offsite financial account onboarding is provided which creates a more streamlined process for a customer. The customer accesses a money services businesss business electronic system to request financial account setup. The onboarding system establishes account access to a pooled custodial account managed by the money services businesss business based on preliminary identification (ID) data from the customer. With only preliminary ID data, account access limits are assigned which reduces the risk of fraud or criminal activity with the customer'"'"'s account access. Because account access is established with just the preliminary ID data, the customer may fully obtain account access directly from a mobile device. The money services businesss business provides additional graduated access levels depending on additional ID data provided by the customer. Thus, depending on the type of ID data provided by the customer, the customer'"'"'s account access will have corresponding access level rights to the custodial account.

Claims

1. A method to open financial account access from a mobile device, comprising:

transmitting a request to a money services business to open a financial account;

displaying a prompt from said money services business for preliminary identification (ID) data;

transmitting said preliminary ID data entered by a customer at said mobile device;

receiving an acknowledgement from said money services business after transmission of said preliminary ID data that financial account access has been established with said money services business; and

receiving account access limits from said money services business, wherein said account access limits correspond to said preliminary ID data.

2. The method of claim 1 further comprising:

transmitting a monetary transfer request from said customer to a third party;

receiving an additional prompt from said money services business requesting payment card information from said customer, said additional prompt received when said monetary transfer request exceeds said account access limits;

transmitting said payment card information from said customer to said money services business; and

receiving an acknowledgement from said money services business that said monetary transfer request was completed using said payment card information.

3. The method of claim 1 further comprising:

transmitting a financial service request to said money services business;

receiving an additional prompt from said money services business requesting additional ID data from said customer, said additional prompt received when said financial service request exceeds said access limits;

transmitting said additional ID data from said customer to said money services business; and

receiving an acknowledgement from said money services business that said financial service request was completed, said acknowledgement received when said additional ID data is sufficient to increase said access limits to a level in which said financial service request is allowed.

4. A computer program product to open financial account access from an offsite location, comprising:

a computer-readable medium having program code recorded thereon, said program code comprising;

program code to transmit a request to a money services business to open a financial account;

program code to display a prompt from said money services business for preliminary identification (ID) data;

program code to transmit said preliminary ID data entered by a customer at said mobile device;

program code to receive an acknowledgement from said money services business after transmission of said preliminary ID data that financial account access has been established with said money services business; and

program code to receive account access limits from said money services business, wherein said account access limits correspond to said preliminary ID data.

5. The computer program product of claim 4 further comprising:

program code to transmit a monetary transfer request from said customer to a third party;

program code to receive an additional prompt from said money services business requesting payment card information from said customer, said additional prompt received when said monetary transfer request exceeds said account access limits;

program code to transmit said payment card information from said customer to said money services business; and

program code to receive an acknowledgement from said money services business that said monetary transfer request was completed using said payment card information.

6. The computer program product of claim 4 further comprising:

program code to transmit a financial service request to said money services business;

program code to receive an additional prompt from said money services business requesting additional ID data from said customer, said additional prompt received when said financial service request exceeds said access limits;

program code to transmit said additional ID data from said customer to said money services business; and

to receive an acknowledgement from said money services businesss business that said financial service request was completed, said acknowledgement received when said additional ID data is sufficient to increase said access limits to a level in which said financial service request is allowed.

7. A mobile device configured to open financial account access from an offsite location, said mobile device comprising:

at least one processor;

a memory coupled to said at least one processor; and

a banking application stored in said memory, wherein, when executed by said at least one processor, said executing banking application configures said mobile device;

to transmit a request to a money services businesss business to open a financial account;

to display a prompt from said money services businesss business for preliminary identification (ID) data;

to transmit said preliminary ID data entered by a customer at said mobile device;

to receive an acknowledgement from said money services businesss business after transmission of said preliminary ID data that financial account access has been established with said money services businesss business; and

to receive account access limits from said money services businesss business, wherein said account access limits correspond to said preliminary ID data.

8. The mobile device of claim 7 wherein said executing banking application further configures said mobile device:

to transmit a monetary transfer request from said customer to a third party;

to receive an additional prompt from said money services businesss business requesting payment card information from said customer, said additional prompt received when said monetary transfer request exceeds said account access limits;

to transmit said payment card information from said customer to said money services businesss business; and

to receive an acknowledgement from said money services businesss business that said monetary transfer request was completed using said payment card information.

9. The mobile device of claim 7 wherein said executing banking application further configures said mobile device:

to transmit a financial service request to said money services businesss business;

to receive an additional prompt from said money services businesss business requesting additional ID data from said customer, said additional prompt received when said financial service request exceeds said access limits;

to transmit said additional ID data from said customer to said money services businesss business; and

to receive an acknowledgement from said money services businesss business that said financial service request was completed, said acknowledgement received when said additional ID data is sufficient to increase said access limits to a level in which said financial service request is allowed.
