Abstract

Method and apparatus for transmitting and receiving a signal in a broadcasting communication system are provided. Data of an input stream is divided for transmission through a frame. A header that includes information about the input stream is constructed. The frame is constructed using the header and the divided data.

Claims

1. A method for transmitting a signal in a broadcasting communication system, the method comprising the steps of:

determining data of an input stream for transmission through a frame;

constructing a header that comprises information about the input stream; and

constructing the frame using the header and the determined data of the input stream.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein the information about the input stream is represented in the header using at least one of a MODE field of a Cyclic Redundancy Check (CRC)-8 MODE field, an EXT field of a MATYPE field, and the MATYPE field.

3. The method of claim 1, wherein the input stream is constructed to have a variable length.

4. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

scrambling the constructed frame; and

adding at least one of a Bose, Chaudhuri, Hocque-nghem (BCH) code and a Low-Density Parity-Check (LDPC) code to the scrambled frame and constructing a Forward Error Correction (FEC) frame.

5. A method for transmitting a signal in a broadcasting communication system, the method comprising the steps of:

determining data of an input stream for transmission through a frame;

constructing a header that comprises information about the input stream;

scrambling the header; and

constructing the frame using the scrambled header and the determined data of the input stream.

6. The method of claim 5, wherein the input stream is constructed to have a variable length.

7. The method of claim 5, further comprising:

scrambling the constructed frame; and

adding at least one of a Bose, Chaudhuri, Hocque-nghem (BCH) code and a Low-Density Parity-Check (LDPC) code to the scrambled frame and constructing a Forward Error Correction (FEC) frame.

The method of claim 7, wherein, when a scrambling scheme of the header and a scrambling scheme of the frame are different from each other, the scrambling scheme of the frame is different in at least one of a polynomial, an initialization sequence, and an eXclusive OR (XOR) order of scrambling symbols from the scrambling scheme of the header.

9. A method for transmitting a signal in a broadcasting communication system, the method comprising the steps of:

determining data of an input stream for transmission through a frame;

constructing a header that comprises information about the input stream;

adding the header to the determined data;

scrambling the header; and

padding the determined data, which comprises the scrambled header, to increase a length of the frame, and constructing the frame.

10. The method of claim 9, wherein the input stream is constructed to have a variable length.

11. The method of claim 9, further comprising:

scrambling the constructed frame; and

adding at least one of a Bose, Chaudhuri, Hocque-nghem (BCH) code and a Low-Density Parity-Check (LDPC) code to the scrambled frame, and constructing a Forward Error Correction (FEC) frame.

The method of claim 11, wherein, when a scrambling scheme of the header and a scrambling scheme of the frame are different from each other, the scrambling scheme of the frame is different in at least one of a polynomial, an initialization sequence, and an eXclusive OR (XOR) order of scrambling symbols from the scrambling scheme of the header.

13. A method for transmitting a signal in a broadcasting communication system, the method comprising the steps of:

determining data of an input stream for transmission through a frame;

constructing a header that comprises information about the input stream;

constructing the frame using the header and the determined data of the input stream;

scrambling the frame;

constructing a Forward Error Correction (FEC) frame using the scrambled frame; and

scrambling the FEC frame.

14. The method of claim 13, wherein the input stream is constructed to have a variable length.

15. The method of claim 13, wherein, when a scrambling scheme of the frame is different from a scrambling scheme of the FEC frame, the scrambling scheme of the FEC frame is different in at least one of a polynomial, an initialization sequence, and an eXclusive OR (XOR) order of scrambling symbols from the scrambling scheme of the frame.

16. An apparatus for transmitting a signal in a broadcasting communication system, the apparatus comprising:

a data generator for determining data of an input stream for transmission through a frame;

a control signal generator for constructing a header that comprises information about the input stream; and

a frame constructor for constructing the frame using the header and the determined data of the input stream.

17. The apparatus of claim 16, wherein the information about the input stream is represented in the header using at least one of a MODE field of a Cyclic Redundancy Check (CRC)-8 MODE field, an EXT field of a MATYPE field, and the MATYPE field.

18. The apparatus of claim 16, wherein the input stream is constructed to have a variable length.

19. The apparatus of claim 16, wherein the frame constructor scrambles the constructed frame, and adds at least one of a Bose, Chaudhuri, Hocque-nghem (BCH) code and a Low-Density Parity-Check (LDPC) code to the scrambled frame and constructing a Forward Error Correction (FEC) frame.

20. An apparatus for transmitting a signal in a broadcasting communication system, the apparatus comprising:

a data generator for dividing data of an input stream for transmission through a frame;

a control signal generator for constructing a header that comprises information about the input stream;

a scrambler for scrambling the header; and

a frame constructor for constructing the frame using the scrambled header and the divided data of the input stream.

21. The apparatus of claim 20, wherein the input stream is constructed to have a variable length.

22. The apparatus of claim 20, further comprising:

a 2nd scrambler for scrambling the frame constructed in the frame constructor; and

a 2nd frame constructor for adding at least one of a Bose, Chaudhuri, Hocque-nghem (BCH) code and a Low-Density Parity-Check (LDPC) code to the frame scrambled in the 2nd scrambler, and constructing a Forward Error Correction (FEC) frame.

23. The apparatus of claim 22, wherein, when a scrambling scheme of the scrambler and a scrambling scheme of the 2nd scrambler are different from each other, the scrambling scheme of the 2nd scrambler is different in at least one of a polynomial, an initialization sequence, and an eXclusive OR (XOR) order of scrambling symbols from the scrambling scheme of the scrambler.

24. An apparatus for transmitting a signal in a broadcasting communication system, the apparatus comprising:

a data generator for determining data of an input stream for transmission through a frame;

a control signal generator for constructing a header that comprises information about the input stream; and

a frame constructor for adding the header to the determined data, scrambling the header, and padding the determined data, which comprises the scrambled header, to increase a length of the frame, and constructing the frame.

25. The apparatus of claim 24, wherein the input stream is constructed to have a variable length.

26. The apparatus of claim 24, further comprising:

a scrambler for scrambling the frame constructed in the frame constructor; and

a 2nd frame constructor for adding at least one of a Bose, Chaudhuri, Hocque-nghem (BCH) code and a Low-Density Parity-Check (LDPC) code to the frame scrambled in the scrambler, and constructing a Forward Error Correction (FEC) frame.

27. The apparatus of claim 26, wherein, when a scrambling scheme of the frame constructor is different from a scrambling scheme of the scrambler, the scrambling scheme of the scrambler is different in at least one of a polynomial, an initialization sequence, and an eXclusive OR (XOR) order of scrambling symbols from the scrambling scheme of the frame constructor.

28. An apparatus for transmitting a signal in a broadcasting communication system, the apparatus comprising:

a data generator for determining data of an input stream for transmission through a frame;

a control signal generator for constructing a header that comprises information about the input stream;

a 1st frame constructor for constructing the frame using the header and the determined data of the input stream;

a 1st scrambler for scrambling the frame;

a 2nd frame constructor for constructing a Forward Error Correction (FEC) frame using the frame scrambled in the 1st scrambler; and

a 2nd scrambler for scrambling the FEC frame.

29. The apparatus of claim 28, wherein the input stream is constructed to have a variable length.

The apparatus of claim 28, wherein, when a scrambling scheme of the 1st scrambler is different from a scrambling scheme of the 2nd scrambler, the scrambling scheme of the 2nd scrambler is different in at least one of a polynomial, an initialization sequence, and an eXclusive OR (XOR) order of scrambling symbols from the scrambling scheme of the 1st scrambler.

31. A method for receiving a signal in a broadcasting communication system, the method comprising the steps of:

when a signal is received, determining whether a Cyclic Redundancy Check (CRC) error occurs in the signal;

when the CRC error occurs in the signal, descrambling a frame header of the signal; and

restoring data of the signal using the descrambled frame header.

32. The method of claim 31, wherein restoring the data comprises:

determining whether a CRC error occurs in the descrambled frame header; and

when the CRC error does not occur in the descrambled frame header, restoring the data using the descrambled frame header.

33. A method for receiving a signal in a broadcasting communication system, the method comprising the steps of:

when a signal is received, determining whether a Forward Error Correction (FEC) error occurs in the signal;

when the FEC error occurs in the signal, descrambling an FEC frame in which the FEC error occurs; and

decoding the descrambled FEC frame and restoring data of the descrambled FEC frame.

34. The method of claim 33, wherein restoring the data comprises:

determining whether the FEC error occurs in the descrambled FEC frame; and

when the FEC error does not occur in the descrambled FEC frame, decoding the descrambled FEC frame and restoring the data of the descrambled FEC frame.

35. An apparatus for receiving a signal in a broadcasting communication system, the apparatus comprising:

a receiver for receiving a signal; and

a frame processor for, when a Cyclic Redundancy Check (CRC) error occurs in the signal, descrambling a frame header in the signal, and restoring data of the signal using the descrambled frame header.

36. The apparatus of claim 35, wherein the frame processor determines whether a CRC error occurs in the descrambled frame header and, when the CRC error does not occur in the descrambled frame header, the frame processor restores the data of the signal using the descrambled frame header.

37. An apparatus for receiving a signal in a broadcasting communication system, the apparatus comprising:

a receiver for receiving a signal; and

a frame processor for, when a Forward Error Correction (FEC) error occurs in the signal, descrambling an FEC frame in which the FEC error occurs, and decoding the descrambled FEC frame and restoring data of the descrambled FEC frame.

38. The apparatus of claim 37, wherein the frame processor determines whether the FEC error occurs in the descrambled FEC frame and, when the FEC error does not occur in the descrambled FEC frame, the frame processor decodes the descrambled FEC frame and restores the data of the descrambled FEC frame.
