Abstract

A signal processing apparatus capable of easily linking video data of a DVCR connected by an i-Link or the like and utilizing the same in a desired format is disclosed. Streaming data such as video data is defined, managed, and controlled in usage by an “optional-media” link tag linked to a “gpoi” tag defining a specific position in a position information file. The “optional-media” link can describe the five attributes of a format attribute for designating a connected apparatus and format information thereof, id attribute for further specifying the target in the connected apparatus designated by the format attribute, an “in” attribute and “out” attribute for designating a reproduction start position and ending position of the designated data, and a repeat attribute for designating a number of times of reproduction.

Claims

1. A information processing method comprising:

retrieving first data and first position information;

displaying the first data;

searching second data according to the first position information; and

informing the second data when the second data is possible.

2. The information processing method according to claim 1, wherein the second data includes second position information.

3. The information processing method according to claim 2 further comprising:

informing a type of the second data when the second data is possible and informed.

4. The information processing method according to claim 3, wherein the second data is image data.

5. The information processing method according to claim 4, further comprising:

reproducing the image data according to user operation.

6. The information processing method according to claim 5, wherein the image data is movie data.

7. The information processing method according to claim 6, wherein the first data is map data.

8. The information processing method according to claim 3, wherein the second data is reproduced based on the first position information.

9. The information processing method according to claim 1, wherein the second data is retrieved from at least one external unit.

10. The information processing method according to claim 9, wherein the at least one external unit includes at least two external units.

11. The information processing method according to claim 2, wherein the displaying displays a mark of the first position information, the mark showing advancing direction.

12. A signal processing apparatus comprising:

a position information receiving unit to receive position information;

a data retrieving unit to retrieve first data and second data which are related to position information, said second data specifying external data, the second data including type information of the second data;

a display unit to display the first data and the external data specified by said second data;

a control unit to control said data retrieving unit to retrieve and display, on the display unit, the first data and the external data specified by said second data;

a deciding unit to decide whether the external data specified by said second data is possible; and

an informing unit to inform that the external data specified by said second data is possible when said deciding unit decides the external data specified by said second data is possible.

13. A system comprising:

a first apparatus and a second apparatus, wherein the first apparatus comprises;

a memory unit to store first data and second data, the second data including (1) position information of the second data and (2) format information of the second data,

a first transferring/receiving unit to transfer the first data to the second apparatus, and to receive a search request from the second apparatus, and

a searching unit to search the second data according to the search request from the second apparatus;

wherein the second apparatus comprises;

a position information receiving unit to receive position information,

a control unit to control (1) display of the first data and (2) the search request of the second data,

a second transferring/receiving unit to transfer the search request to the first apparatus and receive the first data from the first apparatus;

wherein,

the first transferring/receiving unit of the first apparatus transfers the second data to the second apparatus when the second data is found by the searching unit,

the second transferring/receiving unit of the second apparatus receives the second data when the first transferring/receiving unit of the first apparatus transfers the second data to the second apparatus, and

the control unit of the second apparatus controls display of the second data.

14. An information processing method comprising:

retrieving first data;

displaying the first data;

searching second data which comprises position information; and

informing the second data when the second data is possible.

15. An information processing apparatus comprising:

a retrieving unit to retrieve first data and first position information;

a display unit to display the first data;

a search unit to search second data according to the first position information; and

an informing unit to inform the second data when the second data is possible.

16. A non-transitory recording medium recorded with a program executable by a computer, the program comprising:

retrieving first data and first position information;

displaying the first data;

searching second data according to the first position information; and

informing the second data when the second data is possible.
