Abstract

An apparatus for insertion of a medical device in the skin of a subject is provided, as well as methods of inserting medical devices.

Claims

1. A method, comprising:

removing a substantially cylindrical cap from an inserter to expose a substantially cylindrical sleeve;

removing a cover from a substantially cylindrical container holding sensor components; and

fitting the sensor components into the inserter.

2. The method of claim 1, further comprising fitting together an analyte sensor and a sensor mount.

3. The method of claim 2, wherein the sensor components in the container include the sensor mount.

4. The method of claim 1, wherein the inserter holds a sensor sharp after the fitting.

5. The method of claim 1, wherein the sleeve fits into the container.

6. A method, comprising:

assembling an analyte monitoring device and an inserter, comprising;

removing a substantially cylindrical cap from the inserter to expose a substantially cylindrical sleeve;

removing a cover from a substantially cylindrical container holding sensor components, the sensor components including an analyte sensor fitted together with a sensor mount; and

fitting the sensor components into the inserter; and

actuating the inserter to adhere the sensor mount to a skin surface of a subject and advance the analyte sensor through the skin surface.

7. The method of claim 6, wherein the inserter holds a sensor sharp after the fitting.

8. The method of claim 6, wherein the sleeve fits into the container.
