Abstract

One or more systems, devices, and/or methods for providing and/or using a navigation/geographic feature are disclosed. For example, a method of operation of a navigation system may include providing a graphics user interface. A data representation of a geographic object, such as a path sign or icon, text, or character thereof, is provided in the graphics user interface. The data representation of the path sign may be provided as a feature of a navigation display. Input identifying a portion of the data representation of the geographic object is received. A navigation-related function is provided based on receiving the input.

Claims

1. A method of operation of a navigation system, the method comprising:

providing a graphics user interface;

providing a data representation of a path sign in the graphics user interface, wherein the data representation of the path sign is provided as a feature of a navigation display;

receiving input identifying a portion of the data representation of the path sign; and

providing a navigation-related function based on receiving the input.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein the data representation of the path sign comprises a scalable vector graphics image.

3. The method of claim 1, wherein receiving input comprises receiving a touch on the graphics user interface on an area where the portion of the data representation of the path sign is provided.

4. The method of claim 1, wherein providing the navigation-related function comprises providing information about a calculated route.

5. The method of claim 1, wherein providing the navigation-related function comprises highlighting a geographic feature on the navigation display, wherein the navigation display includes map features.

6. The method of claim 5, wherein highlighting the geographic feature includes highlighting a road or a portion thereof.

7. The method of claim 1, wherein the data representation of the path sign is displayed without a corresponding map or route display.

8. The method of claim 1, wherein the data representation of the path sign is displayed with a corresponding map or route display.

9. The method of claim 1, wherein the portion of the data representation of the path sign comprises a textual character, a word, a symbol, or an icon.

10. The method of claim 9, wherein receiving the input comprises receiving a selection to a destination via the textual character, the word, the symbol, or the icon, and further comprising:

calculating a route to the destination.

11. The method of claim 1, wherein the data representation of the path sign comprises a raster image.

12. An interactive sign of a navigation user interface comprising:

a graphical data representation of a sign body; and

a graphical data representation of a label on the graphical data representation of the sign body,

wherein the graphical data representation of the label is configured to be selected, and

wherein selection of the graphical data representation of the label results in providing a navigation-related function.

13. A non-transitory computer-readable medium configured to store a computer program that performs a method of providing navigation related functions, the method comprising:

displaying a digital graphics icon or character on a user interface, the digital graphics icon or character corresponding to perceivable information on a real-world sign;

identifying selection of the digital graphics icon or portion thereof; and

providing a navigation-related feature based on the identification.

14. The method of claim 13, wherein the digital graphics icon or character is displayed within a graphical model of a path sign.

15. The method of claim 13, wherein the digital graphics icon or character is displayed outside a graphical model of a path sign.

16. The method of claim 13, wherein the digital graphics icon or character is displayed without a graphical model of a path sign.

17. A computer implemented method of providing navigation routing, the method comprising:

receiving input corresponding to a desired destination;

calculating a route from an origin to the desired destination;

displaying a representation of at least a portion of the calculated route;

displaying a graphical model of a geographic object including text or an icon, the geographic object corresponding to the portion of the calculated route;

receiving input identifying the graphical model or a portion thereof; and

calculating another route based on the input indentifying the graphical model or the portion thereof.

18. The method of claim 17, wherein the graphical model of the geographic object comprises a graphics representation of a traffic guide sign.

19. A method of operation of a navigation system, the method comprising:

providing a digital graphics user interface;

providing a representation of a geographic area in the digital graphics user interface as a navigation route display, wherein the representation of the geographic area includes a graphical model of a geographic object, and wherein a character overlay is within a body of the graphical model of the geographic object;

receiving input identifying the character overlay; and

providing a navigation-related function based on receiving the input.

20. The method of claim 19, wherein the graphical model of the geographic object includes a video.

21. The method of claim 19, further comprising:

providing an advertisement based on receiving the input.

22. A navigation system comprising:

a graphics user interface;

a geographic database; and

a navigation application configured to provide a graphical representation corresponding to a geographic area on the graphics user interface based on data in the geographic database,

wherein the navigation application is further configured to provide a graphics model of a sign, and

wherein a navigation-related function is provided based on selection of the graphics model of the sign or a portion thereof.

23. The system of claim 22, wherein the navigation-related function comprises displaying a navigation maneuver.

24. The system of claim 22, wherein the navigation-related function comprises providing audio or textual guidance instructions.

25. The system of claim 22, wherein the graphics model of the sign covers the entire area of a screen of the graphics user interface.
