Abstract

An organic electroluminescence display has a bottom emission structure in which a white organic electroluminescence element adapted to emit white light is formed, pixel by pixel, on a substrate, and in which light emitted by the white organic electroluminescence element is extracted from a rear side of the substrate. The organic electroluminescence display includes: a color filter used in combination with the white organic electroluminescence element to extract light of different colors; and metal interconnects formed, pixel by pixel, in such a manner as to surround a light-emitting section of the white organic electroluminescence element and the color filter.

Claims

1. An organic electroluminescence display having a bottom emission structure in which a white organic electroluminescence element adapted to emit white light is formed, pixel by pixel, on a substrate, and in which light emitted by the white organic electroluminescence element is extracted from a rear side of the substrate, the organic electroluminescence display comprising:

a color filter used in combination with the white organic electroluminescence element to extract light of different colors; and

metal interconnects formed, pixel by pixel, in such a manner as to surround a light-emitting section of the white organic electroluminescence element and the color filter.

2. The organic electroluminescence display of claim 1, wherein

the metal interconnects are formed in a layer where a drive circuit of the white organic electroluminescence element is formed.

3. The organic electroluminescence display of claim 2, wherein:

the drive circuit includes

a write transistor adapted to write a signal voltage, supplied via a signal line, to a pixel,

a holding capacitor adapted to hold the signal voltage written by the write transistor, and

a drive transistor adapted to drive the organic electroluminescence element according to a voltage held by the holding capacitor; and

the metal interconnects include the signal line, a power supply line adapted to supply power to the drive transistor, a gate electrode of the drive transistor, an electrode of the holding capacitor, and a gate electrode of the write transistor.

4. The organic electroluminescence display of claim 1, wherein

the color filter is arranged between a light-emitting section of the white organic electroluminescence element and the rear side of the substrate.

5. The organic electroluminescence display of claim 4, wherein

the metal interconnects are formed to overlap a periphery of the color filter.

6. The organic electroluminescence display of claim 5, wherein

the metal interconnects are formed to overlap the periphery of the color filter by as much as or more than a thickness of the color filter.

7. The organic electroluminescence display of claim 1, wherein

the color filter is arranged on the rear side of the substrate.

8. The organic electroluminescence display of claim 1, wherein

the color filter is provided in such a manner as to avoid at least channel regions of transistors making up a drive circuit of the white organic electroluminescence element.

9. The organic electroluminescence display of claim 8, wherein:

the drive circuit includes

a write transistor adapted to write a signal voltage, supplied via the signal line, to a pixel,

a holding capacitor adapted to hold the signal voltage written by the write transistor, and

a drive transistor adapted to drive the organic electroluminescence element according to a voltage held by the holding capacitor; and

the color filter is provided in such a manner as to avoid at least the channel regions of the drive transistor and the write transistor.

10. The organic electroluminescence display of claim 9, wherein

the color filter is arranged between the light-emitting section of the white organic electroluminescence element and a layer where the drive circuit is formed.

11. The organic electroluminescence display of claim 9, wherein

the drive circuit has a mobility correction function adapted to correct the mobility of the drive transistor by negatively feeding a correction amount commensurate with a current flowing through the drive transistor back to a potential difference between gate and source electrodes of the drive transistor.

Electronic equipment having an organic electroluminescence display, the organic electroluminescence display having a bottom emission structure in which a white organic electroluminescence element adapted to emit white light is formed, pixel by pixel, on a substrate, and in which light emitted by the white organic electroluminescence element is extracted from a rear side of the substrate,

the organic electroluminescence display including

a color filter used in combination with the white organic electroluminescence element to extract light of different colors, and

metal interconnects formed, pixel by pixel, in such a manner as to surround a light-emitting section of the white organic electroluminescence element and the color filter.
