Abstract

A method of operation of a storage control system including: providing a memory controller; accessing a volatile memory table by the memory controller; writing a non-volatile semiconductor memory for persisting changes in the volatile memory table; and restoring a logical-to-physical table in the volatile memory table, after a power cycle, by restoring a random access memory with a logical-to-physical partition from a most recently used list.

Claims

1. A method of operation of a storage control system comprising:

providing a memory controller;

accessing a volatile memory table by the memory controller;

writing a non-volatile semiconductor memory for persisting changes in the volatile memory table; and

restoring a logical-to-physical table in the volatile memory table, after a power cycle, by restoring a random access memory with a logical-to-physical partition from a most recently used list.

2. The method of claim 1 further comprising addressing a non-volatile memory space by the contents of the logical-to-physical table.

3. The method of claim 1 wherein restoring the logical-to-physical table includes copying at a log page offset each of the logical-to-physical partition from the most recently used list.

4. The method of claim 1 further comprising providing metadata in a super log block for restoring the logical-to-physical table.

5. The method of claim 1 wherein persisting the changes in the volatile memory table further comprising writing a non-volatile memory space during power-down for maintaining and restoring the volatile memory table during power-up.

6. A method of operation of a storage control system comprising:

providing a memory controller having a local buffer;

accessing a volatile memory table by the memory controller including expanding a logical page number for determining a physical address;

writing a non-volatile semiconductor memory for persisting changes in the volatile memory table including accessing the local buffer for storing the changes for an interval or until power-down; and

restoring a logical-to-physical table in the volatile memory table, after a power cycle, by restoring a random access memory with a logical-to-physical partition from a most recently used list.

7. The method of claim 6 further comprising addressing a non-volatile memory space by the contents of the logical-to-physical table for executing a host command from a storage controller coupled to the memory controller.

8. The method of claim 6 wherein restoring the logical-to-physical table includes copying at a log page offset each of the logical-to-physical partition from the most recently used list for accessing the logical-to-physical table before it is fully initialized.

9. The method of claim 6 further comprising providing metadata in a super log block for restoring the logical-to-physical table including copying the logical-to-physical partition from the most recently used list at a log page offset.

The method of claim 6 wherein persisting the changes in the volatile memory table further comprising writing a non-volatile memory space during power-down for maintaining and restoring the volatile memory table during power-up including writing a logical-to-physical partition table for restoring the logical-to-physical table in the volatile memory table, after the power cycle.

11. A storage control system comprising:

a memory controller;

a volatile memory table accessed by the memory controller;

a non-volatile semiconductor memory written for persisting changes in the volatile memory table; and

a logical-to-physical table in the volatile memory table, restored after a power cycle, by a random access memory restored with a logical-to-physical partition from a most recently used list.

12. The system of claim 11 further comprising a non-volatile memory space addressed by the contents of the logical-to-physical table.

13. The system of claim 11 wherein the logical-to-physical table restored includes a log page offset determined with each of the logical-to-physical partition from the most recently used list.

14. The system of claim 11 further comprising a super log block with metadata for restoring the logical-to-physical table.

15. The system of claim 11 wherein the memory controller includes a local buffer for pending memory operations.

16. The system of claim 11 wherein the memory controller includes:

a local buffer;

a decoder for expanding a logical page number for determining a physical address;

a timer for determining an interval for storing changes to the volatile memory table; and

a logical-to-physical table restored after a power cycle.

17. The system of claim 16 further comprising a non-volatile memory space addressed by the memory controller based on the contents of the logical-to-physical table.

18. The system of claim 16 wherein the logical-to-physical table restored includes a log page offset determined with each of the logical-to-physical partition from the most recently used list for accessing the logical-to-physical table before it is fully initialized.

19. The system of claim 16 further comprising a super log block with metadata for restoring the logical-to-physical table including copying the logical-to-physical partition from the most recently used list at a log page offset.

20. The system of claim 16 wherein the local buffer stores a physical memory location from the volatile memory table.
