Abstract

Computer-aided design and manufacture software and hardware automate garment and fashion definition and production. Configurable garment includes ornamental element, pattern display, and personal identifier and wireless sensor electronics.

Claims

1. Electronically reconfigurable garment comprising:

a backpack comprising a flexible optical fiber screen woven into the backpack, a media player, and an identifier device;

a user interface appliance comprising a user device, a processor/memory, and a networking interface; and

a power source;

wherein the networking interface couples the user interface appliance with the backpack using software to configure operation of the media player enabling real-time user-control via the user device and the flexible optical fiber screen, the software further configuring electronically a variable color element, a variable reflectivity element, a variable electroluminescent element, or a variable optical chameleon element of the flexible optical fiber screen according to a user-defined garment definition or user input via the user device, thereby allowing the backpack to change color, images, projections, and patterns based on configuration commands for a unique fashion look-and-feel and for displays of texts, data, and audio and video media content.

2. The garment of claim 1, wherein the user device further comprises:

a touchpad to allow real-time user-control of the garment; and

a user control device to read data from computer-readable storage devices.

3. The garment of claim 1 wherein the identifier device comprises a radio-frequency identification device (RFID) coupled to a global positioning system (GPS) device for wirelessly locating the garment.

4. The garment of claim 1 wherein the media player further comprises:

a memory or storage device; and

a wireless communicator to download media from a network via the networking interface and to store in the memory or storage device;

wherein usage of the media downloaded is financially chargeable to user according to information in the identifier device.

5. The garment of claim 1 wherein the power source comprises an optical heat source produced by transforming light into electrical power.

6. Electronically reconfigurable garment comprising:

an immersive media suit comprising a flexible optical fiber screen woven into the suit, a media player, and an user identifier sensor;

a networking interface coupled to the immersive media suit; and

a power source;

wherein the garment further comprises a human emotion detector coupled to a reconfigurable logic circuit that detects nerve signals of the user wearing such immersive media suit, whereby software-automated ambient intelligence responds to the detected human emotion to reconfigure the immersive media suit according to the detected nerve signals and the ambient intelligence.

The garment of claim 6 wherein the networking interface electronically configures the flexible optical fiber screen according to a user-defined garment definition and user input from the flexible optical fiber screen comprising touch sensitive input that enables force-feedback communication, such that the flexible optical fiber screen is configured according to ambient intelligence adaptive to user context and user interaction via user touch input and 3-D force-feedback output while user wears the immersive media suit to allow changing displays of texts, data, and audio and video media content on the flexible optical fiber screen based on electronic commands.

8. The garment of claim 6 wherein the power source further comprises a heat sensor coupled to the immersive media suit, such that electricity is provided according to environmental heat and mechanical energy detected by the sensor from the immersive media suit user.

9. Electronically reconfigurable garment comprising:

a utility suit; and

a sensor coupled to a reconfigurable logic circuit;

wherein the sensor detects user condition near weapons, bombs, or other toxins, whereby software-automated ambient intelligence responds to detected change in user condition by enabling the utility vest and the reconfigurable logic circuit to adapt functionally or structurally according to detected user condition and the ambient intelligence.

10. The garment of claim 9 wherein:

software configures electronically a thermal chameleon element, a self-cleaning element, a toxin filtering element, a self-repairing element, a sound emitting/capturing element, a variable rigidity element, a variable phosphorescent element, or a variable reflectivity element according to a computerized expert or consultant program that stylistically recommends such element configuration of the garment using a sensed user condition.
