Abstract

In one embodiment, a method includes receiving information from a user in a collaboration network, the information including a unit of content, a title, an indication of one or more entities in the collaboration network allowed to access the unit of content, and for each of the entities in the collaboration network allowed to access the unit of content, an indication of a permission level with respect to the access. The permission level includes view, comment, edit, or share. The method further includes determining a format for presentation of the unit of content based at least in part on the permission levels indicated for the one or more entities in the collaboration network allowed to access the unit of content, and publishing the unit of content and the title for the unit of content to the collaboration network in the determined format and according to the information.

Claims

1. A method comprising, by one or more computer systems:

receiving information from a user in a collaboration network, the information comprising;

a unit of content;

a title for the unit of content;

an indication of one or more entities in the collaboration network allowed to access the unit of content; and

for each of the entities in the collaboration network allowed to access the unit of content, an indication of a permission level with respect to the access, the permission level being view, comment, edit, or share;

determining a format for presentation of the unit of content based at least in part on the permission levels indicated for the one or more entities in the collaboration network allowed to access the unit of content; and

publishing the unit of content and the title for the unit of content to the collaboration network in the determined format and according to the information.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein the format is a wiki.

3. The method of claim 1, wherein the format is a blog.

4. The method of claim 1, wherein the format is a discussion forum.

5. The method of claim 1, wherein the one or more entities is one or more other users.

6. The method of claim 1, wherein the one or more entities is one or more communities.

7. The method of claim 1, further comprising generating and storing a single entity in a database for the received information, the single entity in the database comprising the unit of content, the title for the unit of content, the indication of one or more entities in the collaboration network allowed to access the unit of content, and the indication of the permission level.

The method of claim 7, wherein the publishing the unit of content and the title for the unit of content to the collaboration network comprises displaying the unit of content and the title for the unit of content to a plurality of entities in more than one determined format using only the single stored entity.

9. The method of claim 1, wherein the share permission level indicates whether to allow, for each of the entities in the collaboration network allowed to access the unit of content, the ability to share the unit of content with other entities in the collaboration network.

10. One or more computer-readable non-transitory storage media embodying software this is operable when executed by one or more computer systems to:

receive information from a user in a collaboration network, the information comprising;

a unit of content;

a title for the unit of content;

an indication of one or more entities in the collaboration network allowed to access the unit of content; and

for each of the entities in the collaboration network allowed to access the unit of content, an indication of a permission level with respect to the access, the permission level being view, comment, edit, or share;

determine a format for presentation of the unit of content based at least in part on the permission levels indicated for the one or more entities in the collaboration network allowed to access the unit of content; and

publish the unit of content and the title for the unit of content to the collaboration network in the determined format and according to the information.

11. The media of claim 10, wherein the format is a wiki.

12. The media of claim 10, wherein the format is a blog.

13. The media of claim 10, wherein the format is a discussion forum.

14. The media of claim 10, wherein the one or more entities is one or more other users.

15. The media of claim 10, wherein the one or more entities is one or more communities.

16. The media of claim 10, the software further operable to generate and store a single entity in a database for the received information, the single entity in the database comprising the unit of content, the title for the unit of content, the indication of one or more entities in the collaboration network allowed to access the unit of content, and the indication of the permission level.

17. The media of claim 16, wherein the publishing the unit of content and the title for the unit of content to the collaboration network comprises displaying the unit of content and the title for the unit of content to a plurality of entities in more than one determined format using only the single stored entity.

18. The media of claim 10, wherein the share permission level indicates whether to allow, for each of the entities in the collaboration network allowed to access the unit of content, the ability to share the unit of content with other entities in the collaboration network.

19. An apparatus comprising:

one or more communication interfaces;

one or more memory devices containing one or more instructions for execution by one or more processing devices; and

the processing devices, operable when executing the instructions to;

receive information from a user in a collaboration network, the information comprising;

a unit of content;

a title for the unit of content;

an indication of one or more entities in the collaboration network allowed to access the unit of content; and

for each of the entities in the collaboration network allowed to access the unit of content, an indication of a permission level with respect to the access, the permission level being view, comment, edit, or share;

determine a format for presentation of the unit of content based at least in part on the permission levels indicated for the one or more entities in the collaboration network allowed to access the unit of content; and

publish the unit of content and the title for the unit of content to the collaboration network in the determined format and according to the information.

20. The apparatus of claim 19, wherein the publishing the unit of content and the title for the unit of content to the collaboration network comprises displaying the unit of content and the title for the unit of content to a plurality of entities in more than one determined format using only a single entity stored in a database.
