Abstract

The present invention relates to a method for sending and receiving system information about multiple component carriers in a wireless communication system, and to a system information sending and receiving device employing the same. The present invention comprises a configuration wherein one component carrier is used to transmit system information about another component carrier to a terminal. One embodiment of the present invention solves the problems which occur when using a plurality of component carriers such as additional battery consumption and time delays before receiving information, and hence it has the advantages that battery consumption and information receipt delays are reduced.

27. A method for transmitting system information in a wireless communication system supporting serving cells, the method comprising:

identifying a change in a serving cell configured for a user equipment;

generating a radio resource control (RRC) message including system information of the changed serving cell; and

transmitting the generated radio resource control message to the user equipment through a special cell.

28. The method as claimed in claim 27, wherein transmitting of the generated radio resource control message comprises transmitting the radio resource control message including system information of the special cell and system information of the changed serving cell, through the special cell.

29. The method as claimed in claim 27, wherein the radio resource control message comprises information on the special cell and the changed serving cell, and at least one of:

a frequency of a downlink (DL) carrier, a frequency of an uplink (UL) carrier forming a pair with the DL carrier, bandwidth (BW) information, a physical cell identification (PCI), carrier index information, and radio resource configuration information.

30. The method as claimed in claim 27, further comprising changing an RRC connection with the user equipment through the radio resource control message, by a base station.

31. A method for receiving system information in a wireless communication system supporting serving cells, the method comprising:

receiving a radio resource control (RRC) message including system information of a serving cell through a special cell; and

identifying a change of the serving cell configured for a user equipment through the received radio resource control message.

32. The method as claimed in claim 31, wherein identifying of the change of the serving cell comprises identifying changed system information of the special cell and changed system information of the serving cell.

33. The method as claimed in claim 31, wherein the radio resource control message comprises information on each of the special cell and the changed serving cell, and at least one of:

a frequency of a downlink (DL) carrier, a frequency of an uplink (UL) carrier forming a pair with the DL carrier, bandwidth (BW) information, a physical cell identification (PCI), carrier index information, and radio resource configuration information.

34. The method as claimed in claim 31, further comprising identifying the received radio resource control message and changing an RRC connection with the base station, by the user equipment.

35. A base station comprising an apparatus to transmit system information in a wireless communication system supporting a serving cell, the base station comprising:

a controller to identify a change of the serving cell configured for a user equipment, and to generate a radio resource control (RRC) message including system information of the changed serving cell; and

a transmitter to transmit the generated radio resource control message to the user equipment through a special cell.

36. The base station as claimed in claim 35, wherein the transmitter transmits the radio resource control message including system information of the special cell and system information of the changed serving cell, through the special cell.

37. The base station as claimed in claim 35, wherein the radio resource control message comprises information on each of the special cell and the changed serving cell, and at least one of:

a frequency of a downlink (DL) carrier, a frequency of an uplink (UL) carrier forming a pair with the DL carrier, bandwidth (BW) information, a physical cell identification (PCI), carrier index information, and radio resource configuration information.

38. The base station as claimed in claim 35, wherein the controller changes an RRC connection with the user equipment through the radio resource control message.

39. A user equipment comprising an apparatus to receive system information in a wireless communication system supporting a serving cell, the user equipment comprising:

a receiver to receive a radio resource control (RRC) message including system information of at least one serving cell through a special cell; and

a controller to identify a change of the serving cell configured for a user equipment through the received radio resource control message.

40. The user equipment as claimed in claim 39, wherein the controller identifies changed system information of the special cell and changed system information of the serving cell.

41. The user equipment as claimed in claim 39, wherein the radio resource control message comprises information on the special cell, the changed serving cell, and one or more of:

a frequency of a downlink (DL) carrier, a frequency of an uplink (UL) carrier forming a pair with the DL carrier, bandwidth (BW) information, a physical cell identification (PCI), carrier index information, and radio resource configuration information.

42. The user equipment as claimed in claim 39, wherein the user equipment identifies the received radio resource control message, and changes an RRC connection with the base station.
