A compound comprising a metal atom and a ligand attached to the metal atom, wherein the ligand is a tridentate and/or tetradentate ligand and wherein the ligand comprises at least one ofa) a high triplet energy emitting ligand having a rigid structure,b) a donor-acceptor ligand having a distorted geometry,c) or a combination thereof,and wherein any two or more of the ligands are connected through a bridging ligand.
