Abstract

The present invention relates to a mobile terminal which transfers or receives data, including location information, in various ways, and a method of transferring or receiving data using the same.

Claims

1. A mobile terminal, comprising:

a storage unit configured to store a plurality of different location information;

a local area communication module configured to communicate with an external electronic device by using a local area communication; and

a controller operatively connected to the storage unit and the local area communication module, the controller configured to transfer location information about a location other than a current location of the mobile terminal to the external electronic device through the local area communication,

wherein the transferred location information is location information selected among the stored plurality of different location information.

2. The mobile terminal of claim 1, wherein the external electronic device is an external electronic device selected among a plurality of different external electronic devices.

3. The mobile terminal of claim 2, further comprising:

a display unit,

wherein the controller is configured to display on the display unit a list of the plurality of different external electronic devices within a range of the local area communication.

4. The mobile terminal of claim 1, further comprising:

a display unit;

wherein the controller is configured to display on the display unit a list of the plurality of different location information stored in the storage unit.

5. The mobile terminal of claim 4, wherein each of the displayed plurality of different location information includes at least one of the following:

location latitude and longitude coordinate values;

a geographical name;

or

a storage location of the corresponding location information within the mobile terminal.

6. The mobile terminal of claim 1, wherein the local area communication is one of IrDA, Bluetooth, UWB, and ZigBee.

7. The mobile terminal of claim 1, wherein the controller is configured to transfer the location information about the location other than the current location of the mobile terminal in response to a user selection of the location other than the current location of the mobile terminal.

8. The mobile terminal of claim 7, wherein the controller is configured to transfer location information about the current location of the mobile terminal in response to a user selection of the current location of the mobile terminal.

9. A mobile terminal, comprising:

a radio communication unit;

a location information unit configured to obtain current location information of the mobile terminal;

a storage unit configured to store other location information; and

a controller operatively connected to the radio communication unit, the location information unit and the storage unit, the controller configured to transfer location information selected among the current location information of the mobile terminal and other location information to at least one external device through the radio communication unit.

10. The mobile terminal of claim 9, wherein the controller is configured to

receive a location information request signal,

select the current location information of the mobile terminal or the other location information in response to the location information request signal, and

transfer the selected location information through the radio communication unit.

11. The mobile terminal of claim 9, further comprising:

a display unit,

wherein the controller is configured to display on the display unit the other location information stored in the storage unit in the form of a selectable list.

12. The mobile terminal of claim 11, wherein items on the selectable list are displayed in an order of transfer frequency or in an order of recent transfer.

13. The mobile terminal of claim 11,

wherein locations corresponding to the selectable list are displayed on a selectable map that is displayed on the display unit, and

wherein, if a particular displayed location information is selected from the selectable map, the controller is configured to transfer corresponding location information to the at least one external device through the radio communication unit.

14. The mobile terminal of claim 11, wherein the controller is configured to transfer location information selected from the list to the at least one external device along with any one of a still image, a video, or text.

15. The mobile terminal of claim 9, wherein the controller is configured to transfer the selected location information in response to a user selection among the current location information of the mobile terminal and other location information.
